Hi I just got mine MTC mvx skimmer 30. What do you guys tune to stop the micro bubbles from exiting the skimmer? Or do i have to wait for it to break in ?
Letting it break in will help. You can adjust the fittings inside the skimmer. Or reduce flow.so its impossible to stop the microbubbles from coming out the outlet?

A series of baffles in the sump should trap them.
So should i tune it to shoot up? Am using fluval sp6.
We won't be able to tell you what will work best on your tank. I'd run it for several weeks as is (unless for some reason the micro bubbles are unbearable) and see what kind of skimmate it produces. Then I'd run it shooting straight up for several weeks and see if you get skimmate that is comparable or at least acceptable to you. If this solves your bubble problem and skims to your liking, go for it.
I'm not seeing how microbubbles in the sump are a problem however. Unless you have some sensitive equipment or sensors that somehow are affected.
Good luck, you've chosen an awesome skimmer in any case...and I've had my fair share of all kinds of skimmers.
You can also raise the height and not point the fittings up
Benifits that I can seeAnyone knows whats the reason behind a air tight skimmer cup?
LEVEL 9!
I had to clean this out tonight

I can see why those really tall skimmer can have really long necks. This sucker, even though it was running with the water level that low, was pushing foam all the way up to the collection cup still

Then wiping that gunk out of the body was like, well, cleaning up baby poop. Best way to describe it. Smeared supper easy but if it touched anything it just stuck to it. Had its own unique nasty smell though.
Nice visual...
