Publix or any place that sells seafood. I get the little neck clams.
Buy about twice more than you need. Put them in some tank water and let them sit for an hour. The ones that are alive will open up and stick out a foot. I think its really a syphon. When you find a live one drop it into the sump and it will burry it self in the sand within about a week. Never to be seen from again. Till they die that is. The seem to come unburied when they die and your cleaners will make a nice meal of them.
I use Miracle Mud and the polyp extension on my acros are unbelievable.I like the benefit of the time release trace elements in it especially since I heavy skim.Of note the nitrates in my tank are at absolute zero which has been a problem for nitrogen limitation so I have to feed heavy and add lots of cyclopeeze .But I still cant seem to get a trace of nitrate but the corals are growing super fast since I bumped up the feeding for both fish and corals.
Hmm, Thats funny. I normally just eat those. But that sounds like a good idea. Do your nitrates go up when one dies? Have you ever seen them spawn? That would be great. They keep my tank clean and you can beat the freshness...
