+1 on this. especially uner halides. par might be too high for the majority of corals to ever adapt to

Yea sump in under tank and none of the rock is touching anything but the bottom glass :)
 
Thank you i was thinking the rock work was to high but figured there is a lot of places all the way around for stuff to grow out of that aren't to high I just figured I would add couple out crops so there is couple more places for coral to grow out of and I think zoas should be fine up there see how it goes little to late go change it now
 
Do I looked the water line is about five inches from the top rocks I didn't even think of that when I was making the rock well I guess I will just have to keep stuff off to the sides.

When I do water changes I drain and fill the sump so the main tank never gets drained so the water lvl will never drop below the corals
 
i like doing changes from the dt that way you can stir things up a bit before draining. i have had the high rock problem in the past and found that zoas can tolerate being out of water for a while. just turn the halides off so they dont bake.
 
Preference I don't like stirring up the main tank don't want stuff to land on corals. Instead I shut off main pump leave skimmers going and a stir the crap out of my sump shake rocks , shut off skimmers and then vacuum out everything I can fill the sump back up and turn skimmers back on to let them work for a little in the mean time I feed my tank and 30 to 45 mins later I turn return pump back on I feel I get the most crap out this way I normaly get two five gal pales filled with some nastey looking water like I can't see my hand in it two inches down in the bucket lol when I take it from my tank I only get clean water with couple things floating in it

tank is filled i added some more rock to the tank see if you can spot it lol looks better in person photo dose not get the 3d effect going to put lights and canopy on today

Had to buy a new regulator and controller for my calc reactor waiting for it to come in the mail? If I'm going to run Gfo should I wait to run it or run it now everything seems to be stable now. Also what is some people's tests on the water coming out of the calc reactor like what should I be aiming for?
 
Nice powder blue Ron. Personally I would wait to run gfo until you couldn't keep the phosphates low enough for your sps. Why run it if you don't need it, right. I'm no help with the calc reactor, never used one. Good luck with it.
 
Ty figured I would ride it out with the Gfo but was on the fence the fuge is keeping everything perfect the purple and orange lobster loves the lights so does the cheato and sea lettuce I think the red spectrum helps and thanks again any input helps still learning :)
