my 26g bowfront anemone/clown system

Yep those will readily host in a BTA. Just a few itsy bitsy little things you might want to consider.
- If that's the first fish you add, make sure you only add fish with brass kahonies. Marroons are mean mothers.
- Make sure the anemone is fairly large. They're known to be rough on their hosts and will kill it (with kindness) if it's too small.

so 2 white stripes would be ok? i have no idea how big those clowns are at that site, does it matter if their the same size,or does one have to be bigger, i hear you need a huge one and a tiny one? also im planning on getting a 5-6" gbta, should i add the anemone first?

You're best bet is to buy a mated pair. The next best thing would be to get the biggest one you can find at the LFS, then find the smallest one you can find. The bigger the difference in size the less likely they are to fight.
When you get the small one, try to find one that's in the same tank with others of the same species. If an anemonefish is left by itself too long it will become female. If you get such a fish there is no hope that you'll ever get them to pair and the smaller female will be killed.
Marroons are among the most aggressive anemonefish you can get. Others include Tomatos, Clarkis, Red Saddlebacks and any other fish with that body shape.
IME the less aggressive clowns are Perculas, Occelaris, Saddlebacks (A. Polymnus) and others with the longer bodies. Other damselfishes are pretty much the same way.

I think marron would be too much for that tank, personally, you might want to try some onyx percs. Theres a guy (not me) who breeds them on the saltwaterfish.com forums. They are very cool when they grow up.

i don;'t have the money to be buing 80$ fish, ive made my decision to go with 2 tank raised a.sandaracinos http://www.etropicals.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?siteid=41&pCatId=1236 tank is getting a good amount of diatoms, nitrates were testing at 5ppm. should be cycled in another week or so. ive been running actinics 6hrs a day, i will go full lights this wed. and slowly increase. cuc will be in there by halloween. i really do not want to wait 6 months to add the anemone, so i will probably toss a huge toadstool in there and see if the clowns will host it in the meantime.

update: well yesterday i went to my lfs, i couldn't resist , i picked up a black clarkii and a condy anemone (and yes i know they don't host clowns, but their still cool). ive had condies before and theyve done well. condy looks really healthy and hasn't moved yet from where it is, still only 2 days, but i have high hopes. im going to give it a few more days before i feed. the clarkii has been hiding behind the rocks and hasn't come out yet. i hope by this spring i can pick up a bta, i want to see how the condy does before i try anything too expensive. right now i only have a MJ 600 - 160gph for flow, i need another powerhead! i do have an ac 110 on there but i hate how power filters are soo noisy and splash, so i plan on picking up another powerhead this week, what do do you guys think? a 900 or a 1200? i know, i gotta cover those intakes!.here are some pics.....

On a tank that size I'd be using at least 2 MJ 1200s in addition to any returns. But because you now have a Nem to worry about I'd make sure to use the sponge prefilters that come with them unless of course anemone chum is your idea of a good time.
BTW, It's not unheard of to see clowns host in condies in captivity. It looks (from the pics at least) like yours are thinking about it.

You never know 'till you try.

i have heard of clowns from the tomato complex hosting condies and also pink skunks and maroons.

havent heard about clarks yet but i dont see why they couldnt, keep us informed on what they do.

the anemone has moved about 2" from where it currently was and is inbetween 2 rocks on the substrate. i still looks good, i actually seen it poop today, this nasty black stuff from its mouth, i plan on feeding it a piece of krill tomorrow. the clown has not shown any intrest in the anemone as of yet. im going to try and pick up another mj tomorrow

picked up an mj1200 it seems like there may be a bit too much flow, the anemone doesn't open up as full, but still looks good, tentacles are getting good bursts of flow. fed it yesterday

well my new clarkii is tickin me off, hes kicking sand everywhere! its covering everything in the tank! im seriously thinking about removing him and getting a pair of tomatos or something. every night he digs in the sand and sleeps there

well i added a bunch of corals and fish and believe i overfeed, tank was overtaken by red slime algae, it was covering every inch of sand, rock and all over the glass. i took the corals out and im currently having a friend hold them for me for my new tank setup. a few days after taking the corals out and leaving the lights off for a day and doing a 5g w/c, all the algae was gone, tank is now sparkling once again and has been for about 2 weeks. coralline is taking off once again. currently the only livestock is a tomato clown. heres a pic of the tank about 2 months ago

i plan on upgrading the lighting to a 150w sunpod and adding a BTA in a few more months, i may also add a clam and a few sps. i would appreciate suggestions on what to do with this tank as far as livestock

well tank is a little over 5 months old. upgraded to a total of 380w of light! 1 x 250w MH and 2x65w pc actinics. also added another 10lbs of LR. going to wait another month before my next try at an anemone, also going to order a aqua c remora skimmer. this time im going to shoot for an LTA. i have the fixture sitting righ smack on the tank, the legs are too wide and due to the bow of the tank, they don't fit, any idea on high to raise it? i can't hang it either. the temp with the light on is 84! as you can see, my kenya tree frag and bubble coral are suffering. do you think an LTA would be alright under this lighting?

When you do add a Anemone make sure you cover your power heads intake along with any other intake your running. Its no fun waking up and finder a Anemone sucked into the intake.

Cross-stich plastic sheets work wonders.

Good Luck, and looking great so far.

Sorry to change thread, but WetSleeve I love the bonnet clown you have in your reef.

I like the one were the "sideburns" don't touch the bonnet on top. DO you only have a single or a pair?

that tank is going to get hot i would add a clip on fan and blow it over the water

good idea, i know drs f&s sell them, i could put it on the front of the bow maybe but idk if it would fit. i don't know how else i would raise the fixture. id have a problem with the skimmer, id have to take the fixture off the tank then like run the skimmer after lights out which would be a pain.

what do you have on the output on your power heads? I think thats exactly what ive been looking for, does it break up the overly intense current right out of the gate? Mine currently unless i have it blasting at the side of the tank causes all sorts of disturbance.
