Yeah I hear you no rush. I think when I get to your status I will throw a few chromis in the tank to help making some poo. That or throw some damsels in the fuge and keep them there for a while.

Yes I know you can spend money so fast in this hobby its insane.I went over my budget.I will have to take it easy once the tank is up and running.I just want to get everything so I can start it.I don't need to have live stock in there just have it ready.I wanted to have a nice dream tank and i have it.I know once I start adding corals and fish it will look better.I am not in a rush to add anything.I don't want to go nuts on corals.I will plan to add small frags.I don't want to do what I did with my 150 gal(spend $60-$85) per coral and stock up the tank till there is no room.I will plan to add slowly and leave space for growth and its nice to look at a tank that has open space for fish to swim.

Thanks Eric.I just found out I will be owing visa a big chunk of money.I think I have gone overboard and I still need a few things.I find it funny how I get 40 - 60 percent discount on plumbing parts yet the plumbing cost me 3 times what it cost to build my stand.I have about 2k in my bank account yet I owe mr visa close to 4k and I still need to buy the skimmer and lights.I owe I owe so its off to try and make some money I know. Why did I want to get back into the hobby again?I am happy with the way everything is turning out.I don't think I will have any livestock in the tank until November(If I can test everything) plus I have to save up and get this debt off my head.I don't like to owe money.I will probably get the skimmer and lights in a month or so.I don't think I will have the money by then(thats for sure) so I will see what I will do.I may just add to the debt and pay it of slowly.I also don't want to go nuts and start buying live stock.More money plus I will need some more sand for my DSB and I do need some live rock to jump start my tank.As far as test kits salt and equipment the only thing I need is another UV unit(mine is not enough) that can wait.I pretty much have everything else.I need to sell my Tunze skimmer. That should fetch me some money.I don't know if I should keep it as a spare skimmer or keep it for the first 6 months and wait to get the skimmer. The only thing is I have been waiting for my skimmer to be built for 5 months now so I am anxious to get it .I am babbling sorry.I may ask my mom for an early x-mas and birthday gift( for the next ten years) wrapped into 1 gift.

Steve / Eric - Ditto to what you guys are saying. There's never enough $ to go around. I figured if I track each purchases on my new tank, I could at least justify the cost to my wife. I figured instead of buying everything new, only buy new for those things that make sense and maybe, just maybe I could save some money for the fish and corals. Here's my stable @ recording the start of my "financial black hole".

Oh my god> I wouldn't want to see what it cost me to build my room and tank. I thought about keeping a list but that thought vanished when i realized what I speant. I went to home depot and bought some wires adn 3 circuit breakers and it was over $200. All thoes little trip to HD add up quickly.

I use to keep an inventroy of everything for my cars and trucks. I thought it was good to have If I wanted to sell. But with my tank I dont think I will..

I should mention the CDN tax rate is just under 16% Hurray for Canada and Paying Taxes.

It would take me months to figure out what I have spent. I would rather spend that time drinking beer. :eek2:

 Forget I brought that whole thing up.

I can understand if I were setting up a tank close to what jnarowe is doing (1000+ ouch). And 16% for taxes (double ouch). Here I thought I had it bad with 8.25% and 200+ tank. I figured if I know how much this would cost me, when I do upgrade to a 300+ in-wall tank I would have a pretty good idea. Sounds like a home loan might do the trick next time I upgrade.:D

I also have a tunze skimmer Model 9420 $808 Tax in CDN and the price of there skimmers have gone up.
RO/DI unit $169 CDN plus Tax
TDS Inline meter $49.99 Plus tax CDN
Supplements Besides what I make (Randy 2 part)
Kalk (Mrs Wages) I have a case
Randys 2 part I have 1 bag of each
I am sure there are things on this list that I have left out(Like the $3000 I lost in my kalk disaster
Like Eric said I forgot to add a sweet tank.I am very happy with it so far.I can't wait to get it up and running but I will take my time.Should I add what I have spent so far.I should also say I need more sand and some live rock.I should add another $200 for that.

I added some of the stuff up I have come to the agreement in my mind that I am crazy $6,769 is what I have spent.I still need another $2300 to complete my system. This will include no lives stock. If my wife reads this(SHE WILL NOT) its the end of me.This amount doesn't include what I have spent on the stuff from my old tank.I think I need help!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had my sister and brother in law over yesterday and they both like the tank.My brother in law was funny because he said the tank is big but I should have gone an extra 2 ft that way it would have gone to the wall.I tried to tell my wife this but she wouldn't listen. They also said I should have placed the tank where the TV is now.My wife didn't want to cover the windows.I am still waiting for my omni flex so I can start up the 8 way.It makes way to much of a sand storm so I don't want to run it.

This section will be for live rock.It will be a BB section with a power head to circulate the water.I can siphon out the detritus when I do my water change.

My tank temp has stayed steady at 74 degrees. This is no heater of course. The sump temp is at 64 degrees but I just added some cold water to the sump so I want to see what the temp will be.It is also starting to get colder here so I am curious as to what the temp will be.I will have to add some insulation to the tank.I may use some expandable foam.
