My 300 gallon acrylic tank

My internet has been down for several days.I have had some problems with my 8 way.The drum keeps getting stuck so Paul from OM has to make me another one but make it a bit smaller so it doesn't get stuck.I have connected my return dart pump.I get a nice flow from that.I have my cl running but the OM is off so it comes out of one exit only.I added some live rock.I will have to get that controller hooked up but since I don't have the lights I have stalled a bit.I also have to install 3 GFI plugs so I need my brother in law to do it.I added foam to the holes I had in the wall.My tank temp is at 75.It went up one to two degrees with both pumps running.

I took a video of it running.I don't have a sound card(Mine is fried, been a year so I have no sound)I didn't take a video of the tank. There is no life in side so whats the point. Its also hard to tell how much current is in the tank

that's interesting. Why did you put that high point in the return? I guess the split would be to direct water to two different areas of the tank, but the high area seems unusual.

If you look at my dart pump its a good 6" off the ground.I good have gone straight across and up into the tee.I chose to go above it .I didn't get my skimmer yet and I may want to feed it off of my return line.My skimmer will be 40" in height(at least) so I may go that route. Its not as high as it looks. The tank is 21" high.I am about 10" above the tank.I will be to low for my skimmer more than likely so I will probably have to run a line even higher if I want to feed my skimmer from my return pump.I also have a UV unit. Its 3/4" input I may feed that also instead of having an mj pump in the tank.I didn't want to go to low.I can go down add a ball valve and feed my UV unit and PO reactors plus skimmer with one pump.I can always re due any plumbing if I want.

Jnarowe the return line runs up my overflow and into the tank. The flow is pretty good.I wanted to run the lines side by side but one is a bit lower than the other.Like I said also with the skimmer height being unknown i don't want to go to low.I also want enough space to cut pipe and add a union or a ball vale witch I didn't install for this pump.I will probably tee down to my UV unit and PO reactors. You can see one is full of carbon but an mj pump is hooked up to it.I don't want to have to many pumps.I also may tee off and run a line where my live rock is but I don't want to take to much flow away from my display tank.I have a nice flow in my sump.water just rolls down to my return area and no bubbles. My filter sock is dirty(in 2 days) how often do I have to change it out.The water has gotten cleaner.

I understand what you are talking about. Socks suck dude. mine are dirty in two days too. I am building a floss shelf which will be a lot more efficient and take less maintenance. Try to build one in and use good quality washable floss.

I don't know if the socks suck or not, but mine get dirty too real fast. I just think there doing there job.DONO?? I keep two on the tank and two on stand by, and swap them out.

Can you wash these things in the laundry?I am thinking you can't use detergent so what is the best way to clean them .Maybe just bleach.I have those bags for clothes(ones with the net) I can wash them in the machine.I can buy 6 or 8 more and have enough to last me then wash one shot. Will this cause a nitrate problem? Its to soon but how long are you supposed to leave them in the water before changing them.I used to throw away the floss every week.

My tank temp says 77 and my sump temp says 75.The weather has been warm here.I think I will have a temp problem.I will be using another dart pump for my skimmer plus I didn't even use any lights.I will have another 1030 watts of lighting above my tank.My room temp is 73 with the humidity being 59%.I think I will have to run an A/C unit for sure (for the warm months) or get a chiller. Its been very warm here for this time of year.In fact to warm 29 degrees celcius. The leaves should be falling but instead its so warm the A/C is on.If I can get my lights in 2 weeks and the weather is still warm it will be a good test to see how hot the tank will get before any livestock is in there.

socks can be washed in a washing machine. What I do is run the machine with nothing in it through an entire cycle just to be sure there is no residual soap. Then I put the socks in with bleach, and run a full cycle plus extra rinse. Then I run them again with no bleach and an extra rinse. Typically this should be enough, but if they still have a bleach odor, I will run them a third time.

There is some really good quality washable floss available through Aquatic-Eco. I use it and it is truly washable. I have pieces of it I have been using for months, and I was them the same way I do the socks.

That sounds good.Isn't washing floss just as much as a pain to do?I would think whats the difference between washing one or the other. Is there just as much work involved.

My garage is around the same temp as my basement. The humidity level is a bit higher 69%.I will have to do something about that level.Winter isn't that far off but I see myself with some problems in the summer.I don't know if venting the air outside will help(summer)I installed my tunze osmolator.I had to lengthen the wire because it was to short to reach the pump.

I have been reading up on the Aquatronica controller.I now see I can't use 2 level sensors. Its made to use with an auto top off pump but you can also use it to shut of a pump if the water goes to high or to low.I bought an extra sensor but if I use both then I can't use the heat sensor. There are two slots so unless I get another bar($275) witch I won't I will have to use one sensor.I want the heat sensor so it can shut off my lights and if I need a chiller it will turn that on.Its a nice little controller.I won't install it yet because I don't have my lights.I can install it and set up the program and when I get my lights plug them in but I would rather wait to get them first.

floss is much easier IMO because you can go a lot longer before having to change it out. I use the level controllers from SpectraPure.

Maybe I should get some floss. How often do I have to change out the socks?I have never used them before so do you need to change them every week?I will use the socks for now till I can get the floss.
