My 300 gallon acrylic tank

This is cyano.I know lack of flow!

I took more pics. You can see its in a few places and I am starting to get worried.I don't know if I should try to siphon out the places where I can get it.I brushed some off of the rocks but then it will probably go elsewhere and spread.

yeah, it's hard for me to tell from your pics, but whatever it is, it's not too bad yet. I would do a lights out for a couple of days and put a one hour nap in the middle of your regular light period. Do some water tests and see how much nutrients you have. One of the thing that seems to feed dinos is silica, and this is replenished by doing water changes.

One way to test and see if it's dinos it to thoroughly blow off the rocks and walls. If it is back on them the next day, you can be fairly certain it is dinos. They are motile and will settle right back all over everything.

well I have it in my sump to so I removed my old crappy lights from there.I will see about getting a uv unit.So maybe I shouldn't do a water change.I think I have a silica test kit.I use ro/di water that reads 0 TDS so I am wondering how my water got like this. For now I hope upping the flow might help.I will see if it comes back where I cleaned the sand.I don't want it to get worse.Maybe me not sucking the stuff out of the water makes it worse by letting it spread.

I did lower the flow to my skimmer. This way my display tank will get a stronger flow(from my return lines) plus my skimmer gets more time to skim the water. It should work the same anyways.I am always getting a good and steady skim mate from my skimmer anyways.

If you are going to do a water change, then I would directly siphon the crap out. Your ro/di wouldn't introduce the silicates, but i would imagine that there is trace amounts in the salt.

Touch would this is the only stuff I haven't had in my tank, yet :rolleye1:

did you see the lab results ofr my RO/DI water on my thread? It's zero TDS BEFORE I run it through dual DI resin filters.

We have to thank Dan for that.I already got a PM about it.Someone loved it and wants to use it.I did a silica test and I have no silica.I am wondering after I pay off all of my debts if I should get that hanna meter that has all the tests in it.I am thinking maybe that is a good color meter test unit to have since it has a lot of stuff you can test for.My TDS meter says 0.I have one that is inline. My hand held unit says my water (in my storage container) is 1.If I place the water in a shot glass it measures 3 or 4 but maybe its because the shot glass isn't sterile.I don't know.I have the Milwaukee hand held unit.I added more flow to the tank.My friend says he is having the same problem.I think it maybe a flow issue and bad lights in my sump fueling it.I am not sure.I did add a large amount of cal and mag about 2 weeks ago so maybe this fueled an algae bloom.I add about 900flonz of each to boost my mag and cal levels.I had read how much to add from the reef chem calculator.I maybe added to fast.My cal was 350 ppm and I brought it up to 400ppm.My mag was 1260 ppm and I pushed it to 1480 ppm.
