My 5 gal nano winter project

Here is a small frogspawn that broke off my bigger orange frogspawn when I was moving it. At first it would only open enough where you couldnt see the skeleton inside, and then I think my crab ripped the tissue on the head with its shell when it walked over it, and it was closed for over a week now it has just started getting bigger.

Might be adding a few more small pieces of live rock sometime next week to build up the formation on the left side of the tank. Want to cover the front of the overflow a little more and give myself some more room to place some frags on.

Got some nice frags this weekend at the swap. Tons of nice stuff there but with lack of space and funds I got what I could haha.

Front tank shot the day I got back from the NCPARS swap. "Jam packed with corals."

Taken earlier today after I had relocated the elegance to my other tank, and then repositioned some other frags. More will probably get moved to different spots soon.

So far everything is doing really well. Has been running for about 4 months now.

Due to college coming to a close here in 2 weeks I am going to have to pack this tank up and transport it back home and then set everything back up. I might setup the tank a little differently after the move, or just remove certain corals and add others from my 20 gallon. Not sure yet. Looking for small frags of various zoas though to cover the rocks on the one part, or to grow out onto the overflow/glass so I am sure I will start getting more into that after moving the tank back home.

That turned out to be a pretty nice tank. Good luck getting a job once you graduate, hopefully you can stay in the area and keep reefin :)

Well today I have to leave college and head home, which means I have to take apart the tank and bring everything home in plastic containers and bags. Eventhough the tank is small it will still take a little time to do it all. After I bring it home and set it back up I might rearrange the corals and rock some more and so on. Hopefully everything will move smoothly.

Yester I got some more frags, 2 hammers, 2 frogspawn, and a 2 polyp frag of what I was told Armor of Gods, but appears to look more like Gobstoppers because it has a green center, so I will have to see what they look like after adjusting to my light. The frogspawn and hammers will go into my 20 gallon, I might take a single head of the hammer and put it in this tank since one of the heads was fairly small enough to be placed in here.

Well moving my tank back home was a little problematic. The tube I had going from the pump to the locline had stiffened over time and would no longer reach the connectors. So before I could get the tank running I had to go back out for a drive to get another section of tubing. It took about 2 1/2 hours to pack my tank up and then took about 4 hours to get everything set back up to the way it was before, which includes time for running into a few problems.

Since then everything has been doing fairly well. All corals are still growing and looking nice. I have had to move some things around again because my crabs wouldnt leave items alone and kept knocking them over.

I need to pick up some more nassarius snails and margarita snails because all of mine have died from getting stung by my elegance, or falling into the feeding tentacles of my other corals.

I got a couple new corals in my nano over the past week or two.

Bought 2 polyps of what I was told were AOG, but dont appear to be.

Placed a small head of pink with silver/blueish tipped hammer into my tank.

Bought a zoa frag the other day. Got them becaues I really liked the colors.

Here is another picture of the biggest zoa colony in my tank. When I put it in the tank back in January it had about 16 polyps. Now I counted around 100 polyps.

I also bought a 2 headed frag of what was called Miniature frogspawn. It is 2 heads and it is white base with white tips. Will get a picture of it when I clean off my glass and can find a better camera.

I recently got some more zoa frags. Without a lot of space left in the tank as it was I had to remove some things. I got rid of the rock with the leather and the acans. I also removed the teal candy cane colony on the left, the bubble on the left, and the frogspawn on the right. This gave me more room for the frags I got.
Currently the left side of the tank.

Will take more pictures of the frags when they acclimate better to my tank.

I am not sure about that last orange/white zoa. It was originally all orange with a thin white circle between the skirt and the face of the zoa. Over the past few weeks the color has changed to what it looks like in that picture. There doesnt appear to be a name for it as I haven't found it online. I am waiting for some babies to pop up and grow to see if they develop the same color scheme as the adult polyps.

Otherwise I think that they look pretty sweet.
