My 5 gal nano winter project

Here is a picture of my war paint clown goby. He was watching like a hawk as I fed some of the corals.

Yeah, haha I can do that when they get big enough. Right now they are slow since they were cut off of a rock, but hopefully soon they should speed up a bit.

I'm thinking about resetting up my 15 gl and basically doing the same thing as u, except put a pair of clown in there, I also have a crappy hang on skimmer that doesn't really skim anything before when I had it set up, I thought that since the bio load was so small thats why it wasn't able to produce any gunk but I could be wrong its a seaclone and I never read anything good about the skimmer in general. I had it with a few zoas and it was doing ok wasn't really growing alot but I only had it up for a few months before turning it into a qt tank. I have a 150w MH light on it kinda over kill but I think I might switch to ur lighting system since u seem to have such great color and growth with urs. Sorry for the rant but just wanted to tell u about my set up and see if u think it'll work like urs. I would like to ad holy crap Linen n Things have an aquarium section?!?! I'm thinking about buying a lighting system from them and sell my MH. Hmmm all the Nova extreme light seem to only have one reflector now unless urs, will this make a big difference?

Yup, I will usually change out between 1-2 gallons per week. Dont really need a skimmer for such a small tank.

I agree small skimmers are generally total garbage. I've tried alot of them. Anything under 30 gallons its much easier just to just do water changes frequently.

Btw that is a very nice nano. Love that small overflow.

Your setup idea sounds nice. Yeah Im not sure about how good the seaclones are, have heard both good and bad but you hear that about everything. I think your MH should work well, but T5HO is a good route also. Basically its up to you and your preferences, and with the T5HO you could go with a lot of different bulb combinations. Im not quite sure about the reflectors but I dont think they would make a big difference.

Thanks! Sometimes I like having the overflow like that and sometimes it annoys the hell out of me. lol

It does give me an option to drill the tank if I want to in the future, think it would have worked better if I did it that way.

Nice Magicians and Wow palys. I am a big fan of zoas and am planning a 5 gallon nano like this for my office at work. were do you get your frags from?

I get my frags from stores on the rare occassion, and mostly get them from other hobbyists around me.

Got some frags the other week from Brad, Rogersb, but have yet to get a good picture of them. Thanks again Brad!

I just got these the other day. Ding Dang PE's.

Well, after being away for several days "took a visit to the Baltimore Aquarium" I came back to see my tank with some new growth. So after some glass scraping and a water change I took some new pictures.

My Orange frogspawn starting to get pretty big, compared to what it used to be.

Some nice zoas I got a while back, Purple and yellow mix

2 new heads growing on my purple hooter/wow plays.

Other small zoas.

My Blastos. Found a similar one online called a PPE Blasto, but mine looks red, so possibly a RPE Blasto. Already forming multiple new heads.

Some Aqua blue and Lime Green Palys, growing quick.

Another one of my small orange frogspawns, at the point where it was changing colors, can see a little green in the tentacles.

Some Blue and green zoas, African Blue Steels below it, (got these from Brad.)

Some other Palys. Have orange spikes with a green center.

Some of the Mohawk Zoas I got a couple weeks back. Must have been stressed and damaged in travel and have just started to open up nicely.

A view in from the right side of my tank. Kinda hard to see as I dont usually scrape this side so there is some algae blocking the view.

Again what can I say but great looking tank...I am working on plans for one like it for my office, baring approval from the boss, and will keep zoas, palys, rics.
