My 500 + gallon system. Last 13 years to now. Build, Aquascaping & more. Lots of pics

Over the last few weeks in particular, I've noticed an abundance (more than a dozen) of new soft corals popping up all over my tank. They are on the rocks and on the bottom of the tank and are all growing fast. They could simply be frags from existing corals that have settled into new homes but I don't think that is the case for most of them. Most are leather and finger type corals of which I have many large colonies.
Many types of corals and other sessile inverts will "bail out" daughter colonies when under severe stress as a kind of survival strategy. It's possible that was the cause of your many new colonies.

LOL.. Not quite that many but I am damn near close to having enough fish now! Fortunately everything that goes in is happy and healthy and the tank is doing great. I'm just glad I was able to get it back on track as fast as I did. It was heartbreaking to look at for a couple weeks there!

I spent a bit of time last night trying to get some good shots of the Angels as well as some of the newer additions and thought I would post them.

I was swapping my filter socks a couple ago and low and behold, I found the little quarter sized Flame Angel I put in the tank a couple weeks ago. I hadn't seen it since the day ofter putting it in and figured it for dead. Surprisingly, he was alive and well albeit skinny. That brings to 4 Flame Angels. Hopefully the other Angels leave it alone. A couple of the Flames are definately courting each other. Every night when the lights go out, the large male pushes on the females anal fin and then the do their dance. Kind of cool to see.

Very nice pictures thanks for sharing.
Love that flame trio, hope the fourth one makes it. Four flames in the same tank would be very unique.

Yea, the trio is beautiful. They are one of my favorite reef fish. Hopefully the little guy can get along with the rest. I'd guess it will end up being a female if it can survive with the rest. I will have a better idea today when I get home as I found it just before the tank lights went out. If not, I will try to catch him and move it to my refugium until I can find it a new home. I gave the little lemon peel back to my friend Jim as I didn't want to have to worry about feeding fish in my sumps.

Some new additions from yesterday. I got a Pyramid Butterfly Fish, a Mimic Lemon Peel Tang, a Unicorn Tang and two Royal Gramma's. I will try to get some pictures of them in the tank later today when I get home. This brings me to about the end of my stocking. The only thing I really want to add at this point is a Long Horn Cow Fish and maybe a school of Anthias. I did loose one Clown Fish and a Bangai or two. The Bangais were not much of a surprise as they are not very hardy unless you get a good one. Also lost my Sea Hare which I found it's way onto an intake strainer for my recirculation pump. Other than that, the tank is doing great.

Could you keep me updated on the pyramid? Does he eat prepared foods?

Sure. Last night I fed mysis, formula flake and pellets and he wasn't shy about eating any of it.

Those are some nice additions. So the final count in stocking is?

Thanks. I guess I am at about 45 fish plus a handful of shrimp. A few more fish to go assuming I get the Cow fish and some Anthias. I'd also like another Engineer Goby. The one I have is a great fish. He's about 12" long and looks just like a Tessalata Eel which is one of my favorite eels next to dragon morays. One more hanging out on the opposite end of the tank would be great!

The current stock list is as follows.

1 Engineer Goby (sole survivor)
3 ocillarus clownfish
1 percula clownfish
1 Lemon Peel angel in the display

Some pictures of some of the new fish and some other random ones.

My giant RBTA sure makes these clowns look small!

The new Mimic Lemon Peel Tangand the new Unicorn Tang. I was kind of concerned that my Lemon Peel Angel would have an issue with the Lemon Peel Tang. There was a brief stand off between the two when I put the new tang in but much to my relief, within 5 minutes they were both going about their business without an issue.

Nice additions- I love Unicorn tangs!
Ever been to the Bass Pro Shop in Vegas? They have some huge unicorn tangs with long streamers and big horns! So cool!

Wow, I really like your fish assemblage! It makes me want to do some kind of large tank/pond with a bunch of angels, tangs, etc with plenty of room to swim. You can really see a difference in fish behavior when they have a very large tank in which they can move around.
