My 540G Inwall Display Build Thread

Here is the new location of the shed. Had to get a new pad done then drag the floor over to the new pad.

Here is the relationship between the new area and old area. The bad news is I have to now run my PVC lines under ground to insulate them as much as possible. That is after I jackhammer out the old pad. Ryan's mistake $1500.

Monday the shed building will resume and should be done by the end of the week. I hope to get the old pad out by then as well. I will try to post a layout of the shed for comment. Thanks

so the nosy neighbor got you in trouble with the city so was it not supposed to be that close to the house or was the shed going to be to close to the AC unit because dont they require amount of ft around them for proper operation?

The shed was too close to the house for the size I needed. I could have still built there but it would have been too small for what I needed. It was very funny as this same neighbor has their shed in the same place I want to put mine in their yard. I guess if I wanted to be a jerk I could get them in trouble with the city, but I dont care what they do on their side of the wall. I assume they will dislike the new location of the shed even more as now it is closer to the wall and I can make it taller than in the old location. But they will have to live with it as its within code for the city. :p:p:p:p :mtool:

looks good Ryan! nice to see progress, regardless :)

hey, at least you have your side window back in the living room!

well that shows you are the better man for not getting them into trouble to and if they hate the new location to bad its up to code and be careful what you wish for:)

This is so cool! I love what your doing. Hand in there man, this tank is going to be awesome:thumbsup:. By the way...I love your first fish.:D You've got me hooked!

for pipe insulation you might consider the 2part pourable foam same as used in boats. You could lay in all the pipes and use the foam to insulate all in one pour as one solid piece.

Ouch...

Ouch...

What is all that extra plumbing going to do with your pump head pressure?

Well, on the bright side, it sure will be quiet in your tank room...

Really looking good!

That sounds like a great option. Do you have a link to that foam? Thanks

i have never used is myself - but have seen it used on TV on mythbusters, dirty jobs etc. try this link - there are several links on google.

not sure how to keep it from getting too deep - i would think you would want at least 8-10" of soil above the top of the insulation. maybe someone can do a calc and determine how thick the insulation needs to be.

Here is what we got done on Tuesday. The footprint is 7.5' by 13.5' and just shy of 10' tall. We used 2x6's so I would have more room for insulation.

Yesterday I awoke to pounding on my front door. I thought my house may be on fire or something so I answered my door at 5:50(dark here) to a very angry neighbor. He is threating to knock it down and sue me. So I have decided to take a few days off from building and try to calm him down and discuss options to try to block it from view from his yard. Hopefully I will be able to finish the siding and the roofing material Monday or Tuesday.

Not sure if it the same in your area. But when I built mine it had to be 10' from the wall. You may want to check into it.

yes you need to check with the building dept for setbacks. If youre already permitted tell him to f off.

Seeing as the OP already stated that the neighbor's shed is not within code, I would tell him to to relax or you'll be reporting him to the city. It just makes me glad that I've got good neighbors and it doesn't make me want to move anytime soon. Also...OP already stated that his new plan is within city code.
