My 540G Inwall Display Build Thread

Looks great man! Love the pattern on the tile work...It looks like you're gonna have some sort of ledge in front of the tank for bar stools maybe? I had outlined that idea in my build but seeing my tank floating in the wall made me hesitant so I voided the idea. Can't wait to see more:)

I just found your build thread,I'm looking for ideas for my build.Tile work looks awesome!Did you use travertine stone. One question I have is why did you hang the drywall backwards. You may have trouble when you texture and paint. The paper mat blister up.

Looks like moisture resistant greenboard to me...Same thing I used:)

Yep its travertine, not my first choice but that is what is already in the house so we stuck with that. The drywall is not hung up backward its the special moisture resistant kind of drywall which has a different paper and color on it, so I'm told.

My pleasure, thanks for all the positive coments from everyone. The weather is starting to break here and I hope to make some serious progress in the next few weeks.

Just read you post-reply
and your homepage.

I use to have my current 120 built into a wall at the home I had in Sedona when I lived there 6 years ago.

My wife loves your tage line :lolspin:

This is an awesome build, and I hope to have something like this someday!
I'm subscribing to this, and cannot wait to see the updates!

The bar area had a lot of flex to it so I had to weld support bars on to the underside. Here is me welding inside the house, I made sure to wait until my wife left for the day. I went with Hardie Backer on the outside of the stand where the stone will be attached.

The pad for the shed is completed and all the wood has been purchased. Hopefully construction will start on that in a few days.
