My 540G Inwall Display Build Thread

Yes I agree you can never have too much access. Look forward to your updates. I have been to busy and lazy myself so hopefully I will get some motivation.

Love your tank! :smokin:

The pic of you in it really cracked me up.

I'm sending the link to my hubby so he can see that what I want isn't such a big deal. I could be knocking down walls and such. :hammer:

Thanks for the kind words! I'm kind of at a stand still right now as the next step is the shed which requires me to have a pad of some sort down first. One of my AC units is currently in the way on the ground right in the middle of the pad area. The AC unit will have to be disconnected and moved. This will require me being without AC for 2-3 weeks while the pad and shed are being built. I'm going to wait until its not 110 degrees outside to disconnect my AC. Its going to be a few months before that happens. Until then I will be looking for Ecorocks, sand and other equipment I need. Thanks

I will be making some serious progress when the weather breaks until then not much. The new flooring will be going in starting around Labor Day.

Return pump?

Return pump?

Any decision on your return pump?

I like the Hammerhead on my system... not much head pressure on our return plumbing, however. I use a second Hammerhead on the closed loop... makes for some interesting flow...

I'm going to run eductors on the return line so a hammerhead is not an option anymore. I will probably use an Iwaki 100 or a Panworld 250 for the return. I think I will use 2 Iwaki MX-250's for the CL's.

You mean like these?

This was the Hammerhead throttled back to one-third so it wouldn't blow water over the top of the euro-bracing... ;)

Hammerheads are not pressure rated pumps. Eductors put a lot of back pressure on the pump so I was under the impression that they are not a good choice with the hammerhead. Seems to be working for you though, I just wondering how much pressure your putting on that pump.

I read that as well.

The (2) Hammerheads came with my tank and stand purchase. They were chosen by someone who sold and installed large tanks for a living. I figured he knew what he was doing, so I just gave them a try... They have been working quite nicely so far.

The one on the CL just seems to loaf along and creates quite the flow in my 350G DT.

Nice build. I have two CL's with an Iwaki 100 on each one. They are good pumps. I used two Mag Drive 2400 to start with, but they were loud and put off to much heat. They are junk IMO. I use one of them to mix salt water.

Finally got a bit accomplished. I got the tile installed on the living room side of the tank.

These are Iwaki MX-100 pumps. This is my return pump. I got such a good deal on it I bought another one for a back up. These pumps have about the same flow as the MD100 but uses less power.

Brick set Trav, very nice Ryan
Give me a shout when you want that drywall finished up.

Oh, and nice choice of pumps
