My 540G Inwall Display Build Thread

Question for you: what is your budget for completion including livestock and ongoing maintainence costs? I imagine a tank like this going to $20k easily?

I think the budget changes as things change. Things do add up fast plumbing, electrical, construction materials, forget about equipment and live stock. I try not to think about things my self to much. This is for sure a sweet setup.

I have been posting my current costs in this thread to give people an idea of the costs. When I started I assumed that I would be in the 20K range. I still think that is a reasonable goal.

A bit more progress. I got the door installed to the room to the side of the tank. It will be staind later to match the wood axcess doors over the tank on the living room side.
$250

Man, I am so looking forward to the Parade of Reefs showing your new tank. If you really want to show off, post a pic of you swimming in that skimmer!

Who purchased your waterfall lookdown tank?

Here are a few quick pictures of the stand and removable light rack which will also hold me above the tank. I currently working on painting the stand with POR-15. Tomorrow it gets its 3rd coat. Stand is built out of 2X2 .120 wall steel. Hopefully the framing will also be completed tomorrow.

Hi, I sent you a pm about your using the POR-15 to coat your stand. Great build BTW.

Awesome, just read this whole thread twice!
It is a dream to build a tank this large... Love the pic of you snorkeling in it. Cant wait for more pics and updates.

well....unfortunately I am forced to sell it and someone is coming to look at it as we speak. :/

You tryin to close my thread down :)

Hey, if it's not too late, I'd install cabinets on the bedroom side as well. You're really going to wish you had access to both sides when it comes time to work on your tank.

Nothing is ever too late, sometimes :) . I can always go back and add them but with access on the living room side and all across the top I think I will be fine. Time will tell. Thanks for your input!
