My 540G Inwall Display Build Thread

Been working away on the plumbing. I should have a few pictures to share in the next few days. Good news and bad news. Good news is that I decided to add solar to my home so my reef will be power with green energy. Bad news is that the cost of the solar will slow me down even more on this build.

yea, but one good thing will be if the power ever goes out, you will have power that you can designate to your aquarium for flow. (and keep things alive.)

or atleast untill the sun goes down........

just some up sides to the cost.

(are you going to have a generator for power outages? just wondering if it was in the mix? or if your going to keep batteries in the garage that are fed off the panels until it is needed?)

Wow, that will be one sick setup when done. Suddenly my 29gal. doesn't look so good anymore. :hmm2: lol Good luck and will be following this thread!

Plumbing in the trench should be done in the next 2 days... I got some peel and stick LED's for under the bar. The first picture represents the true color and intensity of the lights, not sure why the second picture is so bright. Note to self, learn to use your camera correctly.

Now I need to pressure test all the lines so I feel safe covering them back up with dirt. I dont want to have to dig that up again.

Great build! Making me wish I was back in Phoenix myself.

Couple questions that came to mind:
1. Did you consider keeping the CL pumps closer? They could be easily housed in a small box under the window. They would still be outside removing the noise but wouldn't have all the extra distance to travel.
2. Do you anticipate any issues with the overflow traveling that far and dipping that low? I'm thinking there will be issues with flow and sediment.
