No, it's not my wife's motorcycle.... it's my friends' 600RR
I sold my Kawi 2 years ago and then bought an Evo VIII (due to speed addiction :D) .

The bimmer in the avatar is "technically" the fiance's though....

Merv what are you going to use for a return pump for the new tank?

I have a panworld 50XX I'm going to use, or I can switch my Iwaki MD20RLXT in its place and use the panworld for the 75 gallon when I try to sell the whole thing. The difference in watts is 45 for the Iwaki and 90 watts for the panworld, so I don't know if it's worth looking into as far as energy consumption.

I switch my Iwaki 30RXLT with a Eheim 1260 the noise and the heat is none existed with the Eheim .

Steve- do you run it externally? I wonder why there are very few people who use Eheims as return pumps? I don't see many people here on RC use them as main pumps...

A few updates on the stand:

Applied Pre-stain yesterday so the stain gets absorbed better...

prestain.JPG

10 minutes later, stain was "rubbed on" with cheesecloth and repeated 3 times over the course of a cold 2 hours in my friend's garage....

A very dirty lens on the camera made this pic look very blurry- Note to self: Always bring your girl's point and shoot over to document your project if it involves sandpaper and sawdust, LOL

prestain23.JPG

3 coats of Red Mahogany, I think I may throw on two more for good measure. I want the woodtone look, but I think I'm gonna go a little darker on this one.....

prestain3.JPG

Next is gonna be the polyurethane seal for tomorrow. If I don't go fishing at night anyways :D :D :D

3 coats in one day in the cold u really want to get this done, make sure with the polyurethane u give it a day between coats before u sand so u can get that nice finish & make sure u it's not to cold in the garage (room heater's at wallmart) also dont leave the polyurethane in the cold keep it warm.
it's looking good Merv.

Yes i use it for my main return, i only need enough water to feed the skimmer it works very good , I had a Iwaki MD30 rxt and was making to much noise. Is been running the Eheim now for four months i like it only 65W.

whoo hoo! stand/hood is 98% complete

Hood with first coat of polyurethane

This is when I cut the opening for the hood. I wanted to wait until the last minute to keep the hood together, rather thanm swinging wide open when I'm working on it.

Here's how I smooth out the Silicone. Make sure there is no sawdust on the wood!

zoomed shot of silicone. make sure all the edges are watertight!

Painted the hood as well to prevent the wood from soaking up excess moisture, plus it creates a reflective coating for excess light coming out of the fixture.

Sorry, no updates for tonight, I just found out I needed to be at a surprise party. I'm surprised along with the Bday Boy! I was gonna go throw on a second coat of poly!

Tank is done!

Tank is done!

Well, she's sitting pretty @ Miracles right now, tentative schedule of arrival is sometime next week. I've started preparing for the move, extra buckets, extra RO/DI, salt water mixes, rubbermaid containers to house the corals...... yeah right, I still have to finish the pergo floors where the current tank is on. I'll be getting the tank next week, but the actual tank transfer and move won't be until the first week of December.....

In the meantime, keep you guys posted on CORALS for sale in the next week..... OR FRAGS of them anyways.....
