Well now that is a job well done. Looks like that will be one for the tank of the month contest before to long.

Hello again, here's a little update on the progress of my tank, i changed my lights from power compacts to t5 ho and had yet another cyano outbreak, this one was feroucious, i did not matter what i did, it did not want to go away, i have phosban, carbon, denitrifier going, fed less, changed water; finally after shutting the light for 3 days it seems to have died off, i've adden some sps adn seem to be doing fine, but i would like to identify them, here are the photos

i noticed this too, on one of my clowns theres a white spot on one of his fins, i have noticed this to on other parts of body, they appear all of the sudden and then fall off, i always tought it was from her getting bigger, maybe shedding scales, here are some photos

As usual, everything looks very nice. You add the nicest looking corals! All my LFS around here are empty right now - I get jealous when I see what you pick up!

About the clown - Ours had the same thing when we brought him home a few months back. It got worse, but after a week or two it started to disappear. Now, he's perfect and it hasn't returned. We never did figure out what it was though - some kind of fungus.

thanks for the comments guys.

jc, i think is someking of fungus too, it appears only at the ends of her fins and then fall off, i tought it was from them getting bigger, you know shedding some scales, she acts funny sometimes, she swims like crazy and takes big gulps of sand and then spits them, like if she is trying to scrape something inside her mouth, this has been going on for 2 months now, but she seems to eat, swim, interact normally.

Are you interested in Cleaner Shrimps (a.k.a. skunk cleaner shrimp)? They are an interesting addition to the reef aquarium, plus they get their kicks cleaning fish when they're not busy looking around for scraps. I LOVE mine and I plan on getting another one. He loves to check out any new inhabitants and occasionally hop on the ones who allow him to clean them. He even sticks his 'arms' into fishs' mouths to clean them. It isn't THE solution to your problem, but it may help.

i would like to see if anyone can helpo me identify the sps corals on the pic above, i got them from a frag swap about a month ago and forgot their names
thanks jc, i will just have to be a little patient, this is what this hobby is basically

Hello, your tank looks great. I was wondering where you got the plans for your denitrator and is it still working well?

hello robin, yes it is still working got my nitrates down to 0 or close to it per my test kit, the plans to make one are easy, but depends on the size of your tank, readig your stats it says you have a 75 gal, you will need a phosban reactor, no-no3 media made by carib-sea (goggle it) easy to find and cheap, an mj1200 or 800 pump, 1/4" tubing and 1/4 tubing ball valve.

fill your reactor with the media from one sponge to the next, hook up the tubing to the inlet and outlet of reactor, you will need fittings for this, you can use 2 1/4"mnptx1/4" tubing jaco fitting, use clamps to hold them to the outlet and inlet, hook your mj pump to the inlet of the reactor and put pump in your sump, and start it up, for the first 7 days go a drop a second on the outlet, send it to a bucket if you can, check the outflow for nitrate and nitrite, after 7 days you will see its magic, then you can up the flow too 2 drops a second or 3, just be very carefull, if its running and it smells like rotten egg, disconect it and clean the reactor and start again, if everything goes right this thing will not need service for at least 18 months or so, any questions let me know

havent done a water change in 3 weeks, and i make my own sea water every month, i run phosban, carbon and denitrifier to help with algae and to control nitrate, they make it easier on maintenance

Hello guys, i havent post anything in a month so here i am again, i got a couple of pictures of my tank, which is covered with coralline, if you notice that the top rim doesnt have algae, the reason is that i had to drain some water out of tank to catch a flame angel that was picking at my corals, it was driving me crazy, freaking fish is a smart little bastard, but i am smarter, lol, anyways all the algae was exposeed to air for a little while and it turned white and peeled off

I am happy to post that i have been nitrate free for about 2 months since i installed the denitifier, all cyano is GONE, finally after about 2 months trying to get rid of it, i wish a had a picture but it was so ugly that i did not want to even see it, lol

I got these toys today
