My awesome alpha cone skimmer replica with BB5000 pump(pics)!!!

its not bad. you will want a ring on the lid of our skimmer cup. it will help bring the head back down into the cup and you will get a more consistant skim. The bubble plate should be a little thicker with more taper in my opinion as well.

Overall not bad. keep up the work.

The skimmer cup looks way to small.:rollface::lol:

Awesome job. I really want to make my own even more, now that I've seen this.

Hi, After I took the pictures I realized the skimmer cup seems smaller in the pics, but its the same size as the original and it looks way big in person, its about 3 times bigger than the ASM G3 cup.

The cup is the size of the base, same as the original>

Would you list the dimensions of the skimmer please? What are the cone dimensions? What is the ID on the base and top? How tall is the cone and how long is the neck? Also, what is the ID on the intake hole and exit hole? It was asked before, but how was the cone formed, was it cast, drape molded? Was it cut out of a flat sheet, then heated and molded? I think we'd all appreciate the specs and the cone forming process, for this great looking skimmer. Thanks.

there are some other sites that will make a custom cone i can't remember where ? but they all had a seam and no price at 200 bucks plus pump cup and the rest of it i guess it would cost about $ 600 for he whole thing .

Don´t know about the measurements because I didn´t measured it, the LFG did, I prefer not to disclose this information because it could get me into trouble perhaps?

A mold was made, and I looked at the mold and it seemed like it was made of cloth, like wrapped around something many times until the ratio and measurements were achieved.

And the acrylic sheet was one sheet molded and seamed, but since this guy is a pro with acrylic, the seam is almost invisible and it doesn´t affect the internal ratio, if anything it can only be felt from the outside.

And the acrylic its about 1/4 of an inch thick.

Yeah the best part is that the LFG did it for $less than $240, it can´t get cheaper than that unless you do it yourself, I also like the measurements of the Alpha cone 250 better than other cones, since the neck is at least wider.

Is it just me, or does the neck look much bigger on the real 1?

Does it make a dfference that it is a right handed skimmer and the origonal is left handed:spin1: Just messing with you. Great looking skimmer man.

Hehe, that is no visual effect, the BB HY has the outlet on the left side, so it is for lefties, it must be a tribute for that special people.

Today´s skimmate:

Hi, check the new video, I´m comparing my friend´s original with my replica, it seems mine has dryer skimmate thanks to the fact that the BBHY5000 draws more air, I don´t know if that´s better, but I´m just pointing that fact. Now check it out for yourselves:
