Hi,
I'm new to the website and only found it when I was searching with no joy ... for the reason why my beautiful cats purple tips are rolling around the sandbed.
I woke up yesterday and started doing my normal daily aquarium maintenance, tests and 3-5% water change...all was well.
Then I noticed little bright green and purple flecks rolling around my sandbed which I noticed came from my cat.
30-35% of her tentacles looked normal but on closer examination had their purple tips missing.
The only fish that goes near her is a 5cm maroon clown that had started using her as a home a week ago...now could it be that the clowns wiggling all over my cat cause her tips to fall off ??? if so should I remove the maroon ??
My cat is still feeding and looks just as healthy and happy as she did the day before ... so I am confused on what steps I should take to make sure my cat stays happy and healthy.

Remove the clown as fast as you can. There is something about Elegance corals that will cause clowns to bite the tentacles off. I'm not sure why this happens in some cases. If this continues the coral will begin to go down hill. You want to stop this before the coral reaches the point of no return. Good luck!

I have heard the same thing in the past on these boards, clowns will totally nip off the tips of the tenticles of the elegance corals. Weird huh? I always wondered why, I think they will do it to other LPS as well like hammers and such. Maybe the sting is a little stronger or something in the tip and they do it for comfort while they are rolling around in the coral. Who knows? Well, someone might know the reason but not me ;). I'd move the clown out to save the elegance myself. Do you have another tank possibly??

Thank you for your advice and information.
Got home a few hrs ago after anemone hunting and found them a perfect bubble.
After I placed the bubble down, both maroon jumped into their new homes - fingers crossed they stay there and leave my cat alone - if not I may have to place them in my dwarf lionfish species tank or my nano until I can find them a suitable home.
My husband wanted to give them a second chance as the fishes are his .... My only love is for my corals and a porky named Chlobo....such begging eyes O.O
Thanks again, will keep an eye on the clowns!!!!!
