The brown can is very good pvc glue.Don't bother to use primer.I am a plumber remember. At least I was one now, I am a bum.

The primer certainly can't make it worse... right? My sanity can't afford another mistake.

The primer cleans the pipe of the protective material they add at the factory. Its better to use it, but if its clean enough its not required. The more pressure the more important.

Thanks... I think since I'm pushing 4000 gph thru it... I should use it. I picked up the parts for the rebuild along with some clear pvc glue today. Tonite... the fun begins.

Depends on how much glue, if you did a lot then it could weaken the joint. It doesn't take much and you want it to dry well before putting in the water.

still no water in it. I got the manifold rebuilt and installed but I ran out of time. I'll have to continue it next weekend.

So... I replaced the Closed Loop manifold... and I put in pieces of spaflex to absorb vibrations. (Thanks Jonathan) I used clear glue but it mixed with the purple primer that Steve told me not to use, and bled out the edges kind of a light purple.

I ran out of time to fillit but I did manage to get up at 4:30 this motrning to work on my aquascape.

And, I'm at capacity with my RODI. Which is not nearly enough to fill the tank.

The primer was dry but the glue turned purple whe I put it on. This better work!!! I followed the direction precicely. Squared all edges, I sanded all burrs, I applied listed primer, I put glue on the male end, (liberally) I put glue in the fitting, (sparingly) I re-applied it to the male end and put them together with a quarter turn... and held for 30 seconds. (longer in cold weather)

Ok I have been inhailing to many chemicals. Are you going to the next orca meet. I think I might finally make my second meeting.

I was definitely going before the flatworm incident as I had frags to bring. Not sure now.

I never use the primer. You don't need to.It is supposed to help the chemical bond better by cleaning the fitting.I never had a leak using it.Primer is for PANZIES!!Real plumbers don't need instructions.
