My Bigger Piece of the Reef (LotsOPics)

Jonathan... I'll see what I can do... I'm not a photographer and my camera isn't great for macros.

Reeftanks6...I think I'll be taking some time to finish the cabinet and build the canopy.

Temp is 79 in the morning before the lights come on and 80 by the afternoon.

Ok... This very cool guy saw my thread and offered to bring me 3 or 4 sps frags. So, today... he showed up with 7. Then proceded to glue them and place them on my rocks.

I got some really cool corals but, more importantly... I got some really great advice. Thanks Snowboarda42. I owe ya one.

I'll put up some pics tomorrow.

So... Friday night... all four tangs had to get together and drum up enough courage to go investigate a new intruder...

Then they got him figured out...

yellows look pretty good. IME if they get faded down low the nitrate is getting high (not from my own tank BTW). Even a solid color fish will exhibit coloration changes when stressed.

I was wondering why you wanted a close up... Thanks.

What's up with not getting sps yet? I was told by snowboarda42 that if my parameters were stable... and calcium and alkalinity were up and being mainained... that it should be fine. I do pay very close attention to my tank... watching the water parameters and such... to keep everything stable.

Is there something I'm missing?

well, I just feel that a system needs to mature before adding SPS. But that's not to say you won't be successful. What kind of frags did you get?

Most of my water is over a month old... How mature do you want it to be?

As far as the names of sps... I'm a little weak. I will post some pics tomorrow and maybe you can name them for me.

 probably not, but I am interested to see what you got. I didn't put corals in my system for months. That doesn't mean it's the right way to do it, just perhaps overly cautious. Everything I have read has led me to believe that taking it slow is a good idea.

I have a top-down box on order so hopefully I will be able to post some better pictures of my corals too.

The thing with a mature system is really stability in terms of Ca, Alk, and Nitrates/Phosphates. If you just keep those in check the frags should do great. Almost all those frags I gave you are really hardy and were put in my tank about a week after the cycle finished. Plus if anything bad happens you just remember, they were free.

Here's some pics of the colonies that I fragged off of.

When I got home from work... they were all polyped out. (not sure that is a term).

My sister-in-law saw you and said I should hook you guys up. Let me know what kind of girl you like. I feel like I owe you big time... If you guys hit it off though... I'm gonna need some more frags.

Thanks again... by the way.

So... these brown logs are showing up on the sand that don't look like any poop I have seen before. Are these cardianal poops?

And, seriously... is fish poop enough for my new baby sps's?
