Now... each pump runs 12 minutes twice a day. One doses alkalinity @ noon and midnight and the other doses calcium at 6 am and 6 pm.

yeah, you will get a siphon if the out tubes are below or submerged. looks like you are working the bugs out! :)
 
If anybody is working their bugs out... and get some that eat cyano... let me know. I could use 'em. It started to show up Monday afternoon. So I changed my gfo and carbon Monday night but, it's always darkest before the dawn.

I'm testing for both...

I use Salifert test which don't have a zero so since March 5th... ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and phosphate have been testing less than, or close to the lowest reading...

ammonia - <0.25
nitrite - <0.1
nitrate - <.2
phosphate - <.01

My flow is pretty good. I have my return tuned back to about half... I think I'm getting about 2000 gph thru it... and my cl is tuned back to about 2 thirds. I think I'm getting around 3000 gph thru it.

I think my problem is coming from three areas... The marco rocks migh still be leaching a little... I have over fed a little... (the first few times that I fed the tangs.. they didn't eat that well) and my gfo was a little old.

I haven't looked into it yet... but, I will. I can't continue to spend a bunch of dough... when there is a much cheaper option.
 
Looking good Kannin, nice solution for the siphoning.

How do you like the Marco rock? I've heard good and bad about but I'm really considering using it because of economics. All the pictures I've seen of it makes me think I will like it.
 
There is nothing I don't like about it except... I was too impatient to cook it as long as I should have. An extra couple of weeks in a bucket of salt water with a skimmer and water changes probably would've been smart.
 
Good, I'm probably going to go that route. I have a 55 acrylic I'll probably use for cooking and add my dry rock that used to be live rock with it.

I picked up a goby / shrimp team today.
