My Black Ocellaris pair are spawning!!!

I'm glad you like it. Its not my brain child though I stole my idea from Fishboy on rareclownfish.org. My standpipes are just pressed in. I can pull them out when the tank is empty. I was worried about bumping the standpipe and emptying the tanks onto the floor but they press in pretty good. I'm also carefull. I haven't had a use to change the length of the standpipes or even remove them for that matter.

I finally got my sump built / installed. I had the glass cut earlier this week and got the baffles installed Friday night / saturday so I could restructure / get it running today. Its a 75g tank and it barely fit. We had to push it through the opening and drop it inside. It was quite an operation. I have the skimmer / intake area on the right and the fuge / soon to be DSB on the left and a large return area with probably 20 gallons of bioballs and some live rock. (about twice what I was running) I installed a tap to control the flow to the fuge. I may try Chaeto in the fuge but probably not until I get some filter socks going. The Chaeto gets really dirty in on my growout so I stopped trying to grow it. I still need to figure out how to mount filter socks and I would like to be able to run carbon. I'm going to get my UV online in a couple weeks. Here's some pics. Suggestions are welcome.

Really awesome all that work. Congratulations. I also own a pair of Black Ocellaris. But until now they don´t like to get some eggs together.
Excuse my bad English, I´m from Germany.
I wish you only the best for you and your Hobby

Greetings
Tom

Looks great!! i just got done reading the thread that you mentioned about stealing the idea from and i think this is the way that i may try and setup one as well. Quick question the plumbing that connects the sump to the system is just (2) tees with a straight line in between?? (I think the 2 x4 is blocking the connection i am asking about in the picture)

I am also having a hard time trying to figure out if the 10 or 15g tanks at my lfs are tempered on the bottom or not? I have tried contacting the manufacturer with no luck and would not like to try it out by drilling and cracking the tank, are all the 10 & 15g tanks safe to drill holes in the bottom?

rkelman, love the setup and am continuing to follow the thread but I noticed one thing. The metal tightening clamp in this photo will begin to rust. I had to remove one that was about 3" above the water in my sump because it began to rust. Everything else looks great, well done!

Thanks Daughertya.

Dazed the 2X4 is blocking a T connection yes.

What kind of tanks are they? No not all are safe. I have 1 larvae tank that is tempered. You can tell by using 2 polarized filters I'm told. Apparently if you look through 2 of them at the glass you can tell by the pattern. (structured pattern is tempered) I've never tried it.

Brandon M I know the clamps will rust. I need to source some stainless or plastic clamps. Thanks. :)

Ok on a sad note my wife noticed when feeding tonight the male in my breeding pair has a huge gash on his back. I wish I knew what did this to him. I do have a large crab that I can't seem to catch that is probably 2" across (inc legs) I have seen this clown put the run on my Blue Tang from time to time too. I can't see a crab being able to get ahold of a clown.. Especially in the day time when they are active. My big concern now is obviously infection. I can't treat him in the main tank as its a reef. Opinions on what to do would be appreciated..

Very nice setup! I'm converting my garage to my fishroom and can't wait to have all the tanks online. I will also be using bio-balls in the filtration but I will have mine setup so that the water "trickles" thru them. I noticed yours are actually sitting in the water. I also have alot of live rock that I'll be using in the sump to help with the bioload. I have also thought about using carbon and have an extra phosban reactor that I might try using with the carbon. Thanks for the pictures!

Sorry to see the gash on your fish. I don't know what to do in a situation like that, it looks really nasty. Hope it heals quickly.

look like the fish run in to a sharp abject like the tile they get very defensive/aggressive with other fish sloping around and i think that had something to do with the cut .
I will wait some time and see if the cut hell it self.
Nice set up and fish by the way .

I wanted to do a trickle filter with filter pads etc Barbara but I have very limited space. I am going to purchase a Phosban reactor for carbon as well.

I'm not sure what sharp object he could have run into. The tile is not sharp. ( I filed the broken edge) I'm leaning towards the tang I think.

Ouch, that is nasty looking slice. It does look too clean to be that crab, might be the tang if the slice is only on one side. The big trick is avoiding infection as you noted. The best thing to do would be to get him out and into a QT with antibiotics till the wound heals. The second best, if you can't get him out, would be antibiotic food. You can get good antibiotic food from Jehmco. The stuff with Oxytetraclyine is obvious, the Romet is sulfer based antibiotics. Since wounds are externally exposed, the antibiotic bath in a QT is the best way to go by a considerable margin. Good luck.

My tang did something much smaller to my male. I was watching when it happened. The male was guarding a nest and the tang appeared to be taunting the male. The male lunged at the tang and the tang whipped his backside around. Luckily the tang only got the dorsal fin.

Wow that's really a bad gash. I hope he survives. How big is the Tang. This is very deep. I was unaware the Tangs tail barb can cut that deep !

Wow that's a good gash for sure, I had something similar happen to my male a little while back as well, i did not see it happen but i think it went down just like fb's post and i blame my kole tang, although i did not see it happen. Mine healed up on it's own luckily; although he does now sport a battle wound on one side. I hope that yours will be ok as well, is he still tending the nest and acting normal?

On the tanks my lfs carries are made by aquarium masters.
polarized filters? like for a camera?
