Great thread! I am looking to purchase between 12 and 24 young black ocellaris from the same clutch. Please PM me if you have any (or expect any soon) or if you know of anyone that does. Thanks!

Sweet!!! You're on here too?? I have beenn wondering how your tank has been doing but hadn't seen any updates on Jim's site in a while... I had some catching up to do. Your tank has always been an inspiration.

The last pair I bought laid eggs yesterday!!! I can't wait to try and raise some of these guys. I'm hoping they don't eat the eggs.. We'll see. Its not a bad first batch. Here's a couple pics. The pic with the eggs is looking from the bottom of the tank up through the glass.

What a thread! rekelman, did the offspring from your breeding pair develop full B&W or are the faces still orange. Some say if the faces don't develop early on with the rest of the body they never will.

Thanks folks. I'll update after hatch night.

I plumbed 2 more stations on the growout today. I have one more tank online. I need to upgrade my return pump before I put the other one online. I also need a skimmer upgrade. The SS220 isn't keeping up. I've noticed the water is alot clearer with the UV online.

I'm going to also build a 6 10g tank stand for Larvae / initial growout maybe next weekend. I'll post more pics after the hatch!

Oh sorry I never did answer your question. Yes they almost all turn completely black. Its untrue that they don't turn black in time. Sometimes it can take years though. When I bought mine the male had an orange face. (as you can see in my avatar) It took 2 years but he now is completely black.

This is a great thread. I may have missed it somewhere, are the lids for the tanks glass or plastic? If their glass how thick are they?

Thanks. My lids are glass. I don't remember the thickness sorry. I think 1/8 and some are 3/16th.

The new eggs hatched and I missed them. I figured they would hatch last night but it appears they may be on a 6-7 day schedule so I'll pull them earlier next time.
