x3 Best wishes tonight! I will be up writing a marketing plan all night, I;d rather be on hatch duty!

oK you guys win :D
i will only adjust the temperature for now and be back in the morning with good news i hope!

I agree with the higher temp. I have the bubbles just high enough they don't get stuck in the eggs if that helps.

Well no hatch that is the news for this morning. I pulled the tile last night, added rot's and ia to the tank. Tank temp. was at 82 and nothing last night which makes today day 11 for the eggs. The upside so far would be that the eggs still looked good this morning none of them have turned white yet.

So i turned the light back off and went to work,
Do they need the light on for any reason today? there is rot's in the tank swimming around in light green water.

Checked on the tank at lunch and it appears that 5 or 6 of them have hatched since this morning. Strange?
I left the light off for now i don't know if i should have left it on for them to feed or off and maybe they will continue to hatch through today/tonight?

Any suggestions??

I wouldnt add Rots / Phyto until after hatch. They should be able to go a couple days without food at first anyways so hours won't bother them a bit. I would keep a regular lighting schedule. Don't alter anything.

Well i guess i messed up that decision i have had the light off all day at this point, to late now, lol. I now for sure that in the morning there was none that had hatched and by lunchtime i had 5 or 6; so much for the 20-30 minutes after lights out i guess, as they were in the dark all last night (day 10) and did not hatch, maybe they will all hatch tonight? I headed home for the evening.

Are the few that hatched chasing down rots? I guess at this point you may have many more that have hatched. Well I hope so anyways....

Well this is going to be a strange hatch probably some of it is my fault with leaving the light off in the larvae tank most of yesterday. When i got home from work there was another 15 or 20 that had hatched so i left the light on for a couple of hours for them to have a chance at feeding.

I then shut the light off last night and checked the tank this morning and this is what i found.

Some already dead on the bottom of the tank:(
Some more of them hatched last night:D
Still have eggs on the tile that looked okay this morning (not white)

So i turned down the air a bit to help the ones that have hatched at this point, rotifer density looked good in the tank so i did not add any yet.
Should i leave the other eggs on the tile and see what happens?
Today is day 12 for the un-hatched eggs?

Just curious what are you using to measure your temp?

Have you verified that your measurment device is accurate. 12 days seems like a very long time.

My tank is ~81.1 when the lights turn off and ~77.9 before the lights come back on. My eggs always hatch on the 8th night.

If you have another tank I would move the tile to a new tank and hope they hatch there.

Oh ya, how are the 7-8 original gals?

They are all still alive & swimming headcount=8; It's strange though because they are all different sizes from everybody else's pictures the groups always look about the same size. For my 8 i have 2 that are larger than the rest, 2 that are complete runts and the other 4 fall in-between. Only half of the group has started their second stripes and out of those 4 the development varies again, with only 1 of my larger ones showing the second stripe on both sides; at the same time i have some of them in the tank that have not shown any second stripe yet but they have black trimmed fins.

I hope that was not to confusing, lol.

I find it strange because each of them has had the same opportunity in life so far but their development is across the board.

In my reef tank where the eggs start out at the temperature is monitored & controlled by my Reefkeeper 2 which has a digital readout and i have 2 glass floating types in the sump to check against as well. This time of year my reef temp. is 78.5 in the am and around 80.5 at the end of the light cycle. I only live a couple of miles from the ocean so we get allot of coastal fog this time of year. The highest temp. i have seen is 83 during the summer time and i do not have a chiller on the tank.

If i leave the eggs to hatch on there own in the reef it has always been 10 to 11 days even with dad taking care of the nest to full term. I do not even start to see the silver tips on the eggs until around day 7-8.

Out in my garage (completely detached from the house and uninsulated) is where i have my larvae & rotifer tanks for the larvae tanks i just have a glass thermometer in the tank for temp. reading.

I have Occelaris and mine always hatch over 2 nights. I just leave the tile in the fry tank for 2 nights. I tend to have some bigger fry and some smaller fry but after a month or so they even out in size. The first fry hatched are always the bigger ones. I have tried different temperatures but the 2 night hatch continues. I accept it now and just work with it.

For me this only happens when i pull the tile, when she was refusing to use the tile and the eggs stayed under the care of papa the hatch is always done in one night. I am starting to think that for mine it is not temperature related as much as it may be the help of papa during hatch night which leads me to believe that i still do not have the correct amount of bubbles going for the tile.

It seems that i get whatever hatches out the first night as the ones that remain on the tile have not done well on the 2nd night.
