Leave the bubbles the same. The larvae that hatched will probably go to another part of the tank and hang out.

I ussually add the rotifers and green water right after adding the eggs. This way the rots get about 12 hours of warmer temps and a really good meal for when the larvae hatch. This also allows them to increase their population by about 50% if you are lucky.

Good Luck

Thanks Ed; I am hoping for the best i will check in on them at lunchtime.

Fb; thanks that's what i figured on the bubbles but it never hurts to ask, the ones i saw this morning did find a place away from the flow of bubbles so i hope they can ride it out until the rest of them hatch. I usually do the same with adding the IA and rot's at the same time as the eggs don't know why i did not do that last night, oh wait yes i do i was drinking beer and watching the hockey game:rollface:

Way to go dazed! Looks like youre going to have quite a large group this time around. I will continue to keep my fingers crossed!

Thanks but the whole group has yet to join the party. I am hopeful that the rest will hatch tonight and not turn into white gooooo on a tile, so don't uncross your fingers ok :D

:D well i checked on the new ones at lunch and noticed what looked like a bunch of rot's on the bottom of the tank; looked like dust not good. I checked the sg of my rot tanks and larvae tank and they match perfectly at 1.025 so could it be from a change in ph or ammonia levels between the 2 tanks?? I added some more rot's for now.

oh and FB; sorry but............

Did anyone ever give any good theories as to why this happened in the past? I don't recall reading anything...

I showed my kids the pictures and they are crossing their fingers now as well!

Good luck.

Ah man Ed no pressure, lol. I have read some posts that it may have to do with temperature, bubble rate, in my personal opinion i think they like to mess around with me.

My kids are waiting until i get home tonight to go out to the garage and see the new ones.

I am a hockey referee for the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) and have been a ref for 18 years (I'm only 30). I currently have my level 4 of 6 (NHL refs are level 6's). This qualifies me to do Major Junior hockey - 1 step below AHL or IIHF ie World Juniors - Although I never have. Love every minute of it and the money never hurts.

Ok well here is what happened last night. I left the air bubbling the same all day & night, this morning there were more of them that hatched but still not all of them if i had to take a guess I would say maybe 75% total hatch? As there are still some silver eggs on the tile.

I noticed also this morning that a few of the eggs on the tile turned white which means they are dead. I also noticed a pile of white eggs on the bottom of the tank which unfortunately have the same fate as the others.

I read last night in Joyce's book and she says that after 2 days of trying to get the eggs to hatch you have to pretty much make a choice and either try one more night or call it done and try and raise the larvae that did hatch, the problem is the current is to strong for the ones that have already hatched.

So here's my question what should i do??

This morning i turned down the bubbles so the others can feed as the ones that have hatched look very skinny to me and i think they need to eat and fast if they are to have a chance to survive, i may even keep their tank light on for 24 hours straight so they can eat.

Good choice bad choice?

Good choice 75% is great to work with in my books. Why risk losing 75% to get 25% more to hatch which will more than likely be to weak to hunt "IF" they hatch. Good job. Keep us posted.

FB

Thanks that's what i am thinking as well, guess i needed a little nudge of confirmation. I will pull the tile out at lunchtime today, and just go with what i already have that is swimming.

What is your thoughts on the skinny larvae? should i leave the light on to allow the most amount of time to learn to hunt, no rest that way but if they don't eat they are gone anyways.

I would wait and see what they look like before you go to bed. If they are full turn the lights off if they are not leave it on. However if they are not full by tonight they probably won't be tomorrow if you leave the lights on anyway. They are either going to eat or not. JMO

That does sound like a bunch of fun, Of course i read in your sig after i asked the question and i thought wow i am not very observant lol. Have you had the chance to ref./watch any players that went on to play in the NHL?

Congratulations on the 75% that hatched. With 504 eggs that is a great success rate. I agree with FB and wouldn't risk hurting the ones that have hatched in the hopes for a few more.

My kids and I still have our fingers crossed that they all start eating and get nice & plump to make it through the next stages.

Ed; thanks. I to hope that i can get them to pull through; i am just not looking forward to pulling the tile out at lunchtime and cleaning off the remainder of the clutch but that's the way it goes sometimes.

I played hockey with/against and refed Rico Fata when I was younger.
I have refed John Tavares (Not there yet)
I have refed Tyler Kennedy (Pittsburgh)
I'm sure there are more.

I grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, ON where the OHL Greyhounds play and have watched a large number of NHL players go through there. Rico Fata, Jeremy Stevenson, Chris Simon, Dan Cloutier, Ted Nolan, Joe Thornton, Adam Foote, Josef Vasicek, Rick Tocchet, Jeff Beukeboom, Bob Probert, Rob Zettler.

I get partial hatches too sometimes. If the rest don't hatch by the second night i pull them out. Been there done that and the success rate after the 2nd night is slim to none, so I wouldn't bother. Normally when this happens half hatch each night, but sometimes I don't have that luck. GL with the new babies :D
