My C. marginalis

I have one that is about 4" from DD. He/She was QT'd and treated with 2 rounds of prazi and quinine sulfate (preferred to cupramine). Was a totally calm and chilled out fish and ate like an absolute pig in QT and thru all medicines. Put in my FO 2 days ago. Paces around like a maniac and no interest in food. Only other fish in the tank are anthias and clownfish, so no aggression from other fish at all.
Seems to be more relaxed when the lights are off, so going to try feeding tomorrow with lights off
we'll see...

My blackback and pakistani were aggressive that first evening to the reintroduced marginalis, but by the next day all was right in the world again :) He's eating well. When I feed pellets (first thing they get when I get home from work), he looks like he really wants to try them... I'm hoping he will eventually. Otherwise, he's still good with scallop, shrimp, PE mysis, blackworms, and newly tried plankton.

So I'm just sitting here at the computer, watching the fish swimming around in front of me, before the lights come on (gosh, they are calm!) and I notice, the marginalis is bigger than all my butterflies, and even the female meredithi angel. I'm sure he wasn't that big when I got him. So I'm pretty sure he's actually grown!

Figured out the problem with mine...

He hates intense lights.

I've been turning off my sunpower and letting just natural light the last few days (its a fowlr) and he acts totally normal

As soon as i switch the sunpower on he is swimming in circles and acting erratic

I am going to sell the sunpower since i no longer need it for corals and installing a t5 retrofit with no reflectors. hoping that it will be enough of a reduction in light for him to be happy.

as a side note:
i also notice that my anthias are happier with only the natural sunlight as opposed to the high powered ati fixture. with only natural light they are out and about and playing and with the sunpower on they kinda just hover in a corner and dont move around much...

sorry if i am hijacking at all!

My marginalis is doing very well at this point. I found out he really likes bay scallops better than diver scallops. Some new pics...

Very healthy looking Marginalis. There has been a few popping up on DD lately. I'm thinking of trying out one.

simply beautiful. are those blue highlights on the body and on the frame as defined in person?

Yes, they are in fact! I think I mentioned previously what a pleasant surprise the details were, as I was expecting just a silver/orange fish.

Stop it Peter, Stop It!!!!! You are making me drool on my keyboard.

why or why do I have such a hard time with butterflies????

BTW love the Semilarvatus too

which is a hardier choice for my FOWLR 90g (tank mates of notice: Kole Tang, Mandarin Goby)

Declivis or Margined?

I've never even kept one but I can definitely tell you declevis are hardier than marginalis.
