My Cadlights SAIO 75g build

Reduck

Because I can....
So I'm starting this blog a bit prematurely. I just saw this tank in person yesterday at reefapalooza, and while the 100g was really nice, I ordered the 75g due to space restrictions from the mrs. I really like the design of the sump section in this tank. It flows like a true sump. Also got their skimmer over sized for this tank.

So while I await delivery, here are my plans for it.
Ordered:
60lbs of reef flakes select
50lbs of aquamxx Rock
36" reefkoi light bar

Everything else will be moved from my IM40 to this tank, including:
25lbs fully cycled coralline coated aquamaxx
2 MP10wes QD- really hope these stick to the thicker glass!
2 radion G3 pros
Apex everything including DOS and DDR
Tunze ato
All coral and livestock from the 40.

Looking forward to getting this build and move underway soon!

following along. I just set up an IM40 and will also document that build but already thinking about the bigger tank!

Been busy shopping to get things ready.
Since this comes with a glass top, I ordered a brs screen kit. Not a fan of glass tops.
Everything shipped today. Rock and sand will be here Thursday. I'll rinse the sand in 5g buckets when it arrives. Same with the rock.

Now to pick up a 55g brute for initial mixing. I guess I could make multiple mixes in my 20g brutes, but I need to store at least 40g of rodi, besides the 38g I normally keep. Plus I need a place to hold my livestock while the new tank settles down! Off to HD tomorrow at lunch...

I also need to consider ATO capacity. I currently have an acrylic 5g tank. If that can last a week, I'm good with it. If it can't, I may just use a 7g water jug. There is a lot more room in this stand.

Everything is here, except the tank.(boo) ..90g fresh rodi, clean rinsed substrate, screen kit, new dry rock cooking, 36" light bar.....Rubbermaid tubs clean and ready for holding tanks..
I ordered a wide angle lens kit from ecotech. Figure I'll give it a shot. If the tank does ok with it, I'll sell my spare x30.

If it takes much longer I may break in the new skimmer in my current set up...

Ugh. Just got off the phone with CAD lights. Tank is leaving in the next 2 days. Add 4-5 days to go across country...it'll be next week....oh well..I think I need to start breaking in the new skimmer...

Just picked up an MP40wes from the classifieds just in case the MP10s don't stick to the thicker glass. If they do stick, I'll sell one of the MP10s and keep one to slave to the MP40.
The wide angle lens and the cabinet lighting (LED rope) arrived today...

Took them ages to get my tank done, I ended up driving down to pick it up.

I couldn't be that lucky. If I was smart and had an extra foot of floor space, I'd have taken the 100 right from the show floor. They offered me a smoking deal on it too.
If I don't get shipment confirmation by tomorrow, I'll be back on the phone to them. Everything is here and ready to go...

Keep calling, I called about 8 times and finally told them to give me my money back or the tank, they said it was ready then lol.

Finally got shipping info. It will be here Wednesday. Yippie. Hopefully it will arrive intact...
Guess I'll start mixing water on Monday so it has time to aerate.

So now that I have an arrival date, I'm thinking about my plan. I am going with new substrate to avoid any nasties lurking in the current bed.
My plan is:
Remove 30G from the 40. Place in brute. Remove rock and corals and place in the brute with powerhead. Don't think I'll need a heater but I have one standing by. Remove another 8G into second brute. Catch and store livestock. Remove last few liters from 40.
Disconnect all apex stuff, quick clean. Move old tank out. Place and level new tank and stand. Add washed sand. Place all probes, heaters, skimmer, pumps. Add 20G FSW. Place new LR. Add 20G used SW. Place LR and corals. Top off with FSW and used SW mix. Add stability. Power it up. Heat as needed.
Insert livestock once temp and circ are achieved.
Add lighting.
Do shots of vodka.
Stand by with prime in case of mini cycle.
It should be like a massive wc. I have done 50% wc in the past and had no issues. The new LR will most likely cause a mini cycle, so I'll be prepared as/if needed.
I am using the same salt mix I currently use and it will mix for at least 24h prior. I test every batch and match to tank so there should be virtually no issues with livestock shock.

Anything I'm missing?

Sounds thorough to me! What's the weight on that tank? Make sure you have enough booze and pizza on-hand to ensure cooperation of your moving/lifting crew.

Probably overkill, but the only other thing I could think of might be to have a plan in place to go back to the Fusion 40 quickly if there happens to be a slow leak in one of the seams/seals on the new tank. Highly unlikely, but not outside of the realm of possibilities.

Yea. Pizza and booze. Followed by moving 130-150lb glass box. Let's do it the other way. Move glass box, then booze and pizza while I fill it.
The 40 will remain very close in case of emergency. So will 100g of brutes, hoses and pumps. I didn't sleep for 24 h after filling the 40..,I see an all nighter in my future again.:wavehand:

Waiting to set up delivery appointment to mix FSW and re rinse the sand.
Meanwhile doing last wc on the 40 to get it ready.
A very wise reefer and lfs gave me one more bit of advice. Make sure to take a Benadryl when I finish transferring everything. Never thought about paly toxins. I'll wear surgical gloves too!

I might think about getting my base rock set in the tank before adding the sand for a more stable structure, less prone to avalanches!

I'm considering getting the same tank... I was also debating over getting the 100G version but space restrictions is pushing me towards the 75 too.

I considered it but I am not stacking rocks. I have 2 fairly large hunks plus 1 massive hunk, and a few smaller hunks. Also I am not using a fine substrate, and have no diggers or plans for diggers. I prefer a minimalist rock approach.

If what I saw at the show is indicative of the tank I get, the build quality is excellent. We will see in a couple of days. Follow along for the ride!

Truck stuck in Allentown PA overnight. Guess next best delivery window will be Friday..
Which would work as I can do the changeover on Sunday.
