My carpet is better with my clown than without

Hi, i'd like to talk about my purple carpet anemone (Stichodactyla haddoni), mine doesn't have the spots underneath its foot.

I use to own designer snowflakes clowns that had no interest for my anemone, which was a real disapointment. i like the robe of my fish but somehow my goal of a relationship with both of them was crushed.

After several months, i exchanged my beloved snowflakes for the Amphiprion clarkii, and with in 5 min the clowns just dove into the nem. Since this the nem has transformed . Much more alive i should say, shenwas healthy before , but now that the clown are cleaning her, specially going under her mantle and brushing her mantel and stimulating her, she's just expanding more it seems, have her saddle shape even more, even her color seem more intense.

Anyone have a similar experience.

the pictures are with two different lighting one with and without the actinic.

This little guy hasn't been evicted yet, they seem to tolerate him

She's on the move she was in the back now she's cruising towards the from and going west, lol

I have to move stuff out of the way now, between her and the pistol shrimp in the tank its worst than having a beaver in there, lol.

Sadly, I didn't recognize your tank until I saw your cat steps on the wall by your fuge. I remembered reading through your build thread and those being there. Either way I'm glad to see you've come over to the dark side (Nem and Clown forum) :P Tank looks good as does the Nem and her buddies.

Quick question, OT. I remember when you started up that tank, you went with the ProBios Startup, then dosed the two others 14 days later. Did you continue on with those products beyond that or was that all you used?

Yes i did continue with the whole set till the end of that one supply, but just once, i think your asking, that took almost 3 months to stabilized the tank after that its ok and the tank is great here's the videos for it.

You don't need to buy other package if that is your question.

Yeah, I was just kind of curious if you used it beyond the first set or if you have continued with the reef supplement.

I have a pair of clarkii as well that I bought in anticipation of moving my haddoni to a smaller tank. I lost a number of fish to it and I've been scared to add much since for fear of another costly meal. When I transfer it to the tank with the clarkii in a few weeks, I will report back as to whether or not it went through any changes.

When i did the video i didn't have the clarkii at that time and the nem , even if she was healthy like i said didn't expand as much, like she did when the clarkii started to clean her and stimulate the underside of her mantel, wow what a difference it made, the color is even stronger. An anemone really needs her fish, or i should say the symbiotic relationship is very real it benefits in many ways. I would say the shape is what has inproved the most in my nem. The saddle shape really is in evidence.

She's facing the back sorry but i guess thats how she likes it lol.

Any regrets re homing snowflakes and getting clarkii? I'm thinking about doing the same for my LTA

None , lol Its fun to see the little guys taking care of the nem and them asleep in it in the morning, very sweet. Your nem will also be more alive if i can phrase it that way. They groom her , clean and massage her mantel , makes her voluptuous and seem more graceful. Go for it . Its a downsize clown but at lease they behave normall. The design clown are for those who don't want a nem i guess. Just be aware that a nem is a predator, and thats the reason some don't care for it and choose a more expensive clown to compensate, i guess that was the thinking behind it.

Well, got my "black" Clarkii pair today. Snowflake/black ice pair in QT. We'll see how everything goes. Thanks for starting this thread.

Something unexpected

Something unexpected

Something unexpected is happening in my tank.

When i build my aquascape specially my Tonga sculptures i made an artificial root system like so;

Photo015.jpg

It supported my tonga branches and is about i" above the bottom of the tank.
And the sculpture is in the right corner of the tank where the carpet nem is. Now the carpet is trying to roam the tank, but since this nem moves by using the bottom glass its stuck between the sculpture frame and the tank side panel. This was unintentional of course. I'm just wondering if she can get unjured?

You can see here the side of the artificial root system, fairely smooth , actually its on an angle now, she has more room now, this was before i set it

This is the nem now in the tank.

She can move all the way to the back as well and behind the rocks.
