Has anyone else had this happen? It didn't hurt but he bit me while I was scraping the algae off the glass. The funny thing is my Blue Damsel and 2 Peppermint Shrimp where after my hand also. I think my fish hate me lol:lolspin:

He is a Gold stripe Maroon Clown Fish. I added a few Mug shots lol.

My Clown fish bit me!

Mine always come up and nibble to see what the heck that is in their tank. My cleaner shrimp will take the opportunity to give my hand a quick cleaning also.

Clowns bite and they have teeth that get bigger. Maroons really bite, and when they're nesting, they're holy terrors. I'd recommend gloves. I swear they get a taste for blood.

My two Ocellaris will attack if i get close to their BTA. First time it happened I almost jumped out of my skin.

My husband laughs at me, cause i will throw my hand out of the water in race fast speed, then cuss the fish out. Then go back with gloves on. He doesnt see how such a tiny fish can be such a terror!... Plus mine have been having breeding behavior, so i am sure that dont help.

I don't get bit by my clowns anymore. I train them to eat out of my hand. Over time, they learn that my hand is a source of food, and not an invasion of their territory. I might get a little nip when I first put my hand in the tank, but once they realize I don't have any food, they let me go about my business. I never get that territorial, I'm going to kill you, bite like I used to. Back in the day, I would get bit all the time. I even had an ocellaris that would bring blood. She wouldn't stop either. As long as my hand was in the tank she was after it.

I used to have a maroon that leaped out of her tank to attack me the first time I saw her at the LFS. She would still go after me when I brought her home, but as she was only about 3" long it really didn't hurt. It was kind of like the bites I've gotten from non-venomous snakes--startling, but not very painful. I'm sure that would have changed as she got older, though...

Luckily my b/w havent bitten me jet i think its just that they love me so much lol...I can almost pet them when i stick my hand in the tank

I've always had more injuries from rapidly retracting my hand and either scraping my knuckes on rocks or coral or else burning myself on the lights. They'll all do it in time. In all honesty if you "listen" to them and keep your darn hands out of the tank your system (and your knuckles) will be better off long term.
