My clownfish had babies???

Eggs really.... I have a pair of clownfish and they seem to have laid eggs. Can someone confirm this photo for me? The male doesn't leave this area hardly and both clownfish stay right there at it. Will they hatch? How long? I know they won't survive but I would love to see them hatch.

Thanks all!

Yes They look like eggs . They start out Orange then Change as the days go on . When you see the eyes are silver they will hatch ether that night or could be an extra 2 to 3 days . They will hatch about 30 min to 1hr after lights out . You should be able to use a flash light and shine the light from the top of the tank down at your sand and they will go to the light . Hope this helps .

Yup. Definitely eggs. You can watch them. If you put the flashlight directly on the eggs, it can cause a delay in hatching. They hatch when it is dark out to avoid predators, so shining a light directly on the eggs will cause them to wait. They are attracted to light though, so like a previous poster said, use a flashlight and you can watch them swim towards it.

It's the perfect reason to start up a few more tanks! There are plenty of people here that have success raising them.

yep, you need a dedicated tank, maybe move the parents in the tank and hope they breed in there (they don't like change). They should lay eggs approx every 14 days or so (if i remember rightly). Once they get into a regular cycle then think about moving the parents into a dedicated tank and try to raise the fry.
My main tip is to ensure there is enough food for the fry.
Good luck !!!

Lanee you should pick up a book on clownfish breeding. It would tell you all you need to know. There are several out there...

I had been watching them and today their eyes are very prominent (silver). I have been watching because I think they should hatch any day, I guess, this is my first time seeing this. I know that I have used a red light to watch my tank at night because a lot of things don't seem to be able to see a red light. Can they see a red light? Will this delay their hatching if I look at them with a red light?

Thanks!

They don't hatch during the day - they hatch at night. They are photo-positive so they are attracted to light at night; you can use a small penlight in the corner of the tank and they will be attracted to it. They will be very small - they will look almost like tiny glass slivers.
