Wow 26 bucks, that is a great price. That fixture will get REALLY hot, though.

Looks great! I like the built in filtration.

I'd watch the temp for a few days before stocking it. Had that fixture on a 5.5 and spiked the temp to 86 the first day before I caught it, and that was only half way through the light cycle.

Otherwise it looks good

All day today it has been within 2 degrees of the ambient in my house which is about 76-78 degrees.

I remember bennerkla saying that he couldnt even touch the fixture. Mine is cooler than any of my other hoods.

The tank looks good, I have that same light but I still haven't decided on 2.5 or 5.5. Where did you get that black acrylic?

From a local plastics shop. Just be careful. If you have a piece cut to fit your tank sand the edges down. I didnt when I got it home and it cracked the tank.

Imho, 2x18w is one of the best setups for 2.5g. On my custom DYI 2.5g acrylic tank, I have 2x18w 50/50 as well as a 17,000k 7w that works as a dawn/dusk effect.

Oooo that sounds cool. Do you have a pic of how you set that up? I was considering building some DIY moonlights and doing several white and blue to create a lower lighting phase then to a single moonlight for night.

I hate just shutting the lights off on them :(

isn't anyone else worried about the lil starfish in there? IMO it looks a lot like an SPS eater, just wonderin'

I have small pieces of rock, then a piece of fluval polishing filter. It is really soft. I use it to catch small particles of junk.
On top of that is a small clump of chaeto.

The 3 sides of the sump are covered with standard aquarium backing. I just cut it to fit and put the black side out.

I thought about having some more acrylic cut but it might look odd. I really dont notice the backing now.
