My H. Crispa spawned! (video)

I was downstairs checking on things after lights out and noticed my large H. crispa spawning like crazy. I turned on one blue light to see better and the tank is completely cloudy.

Sorry for the lousy video quality. It was dark and the water is really cloudy.

There are several other species in the system but only one crisp a. As far as I can tell it was the only one. Time to get another one.....

good luck next time! lets hope that you happen to get one of the opposite sex, being that theres no obvious way to tell, its gonna be a 50/50 chance that you get the right one

You've proven you could get a male into spawning condition. Now it's time to get a female. The larvae of crispa have been raised in captivity, so you could be the first to supply captive bred host anemones to the hobby.
Very cool video! Thanks for sharing.

H. crispa are synchronous spawners in the wild. The presence of sperm in the water triggers spawning in the females and further spawning in other males. Get some more H. crispas for your tank and you'll see some real fire works :)

Mine is in an SPS tank which gets pretty aggressive flow. Since the like to foot in the sand, it does pretty good with ~200PAR. It's been in the same place for 2 yrs and didn't move for 2 yrs in its previous tank so I'm guessing its pretty happy. Also, I only feed every 8-12 weeks.
