my house reef (211 g.)

I am going to start the regiment on my 375 in the coming week or so. Here are some before pics and we will see what happens.
Hey Travis, I'm a former flatlander too. Aberdeen. Been in CO 10 years. Have family in SF though.

Thanks,
I just havn't seen as much growth as I want. I put 4-20k 400w mh in the beginning and am about to switch them to 14k's. I have 8-4foot 110watt vho's that I am switching to T-5's also. I am hoping a regiment like Iwan's will, along with the light switch, will spur more growth.

TryTheChi are you using t5 lighting?

Yes the photos were of the reef pwered by 6x54w + 2x24w T5s alternating between D&D Aquablue + and AquaMEdic Ocean Blue Actinic.

I've recently fitted a 12 tube aqua connect dimmable ballasts to the tank, fitten with the new KS Coral Tubes and the effect is superb - I look forward to the results soon:)

Cheers

what the heck is a ks coral tube?
simon your tank is looking great. I actually stopped additions and have to say nothing else is rtn/stning. colors are getting deeper and I have to say growth even seems better. I only get about half the skimmate.

I noticed that Iwan recomends a sandbed. Is anyone haveing good success running BB with this system?

Sorry, I have'nt read all 10billion pages of this "yet".

SO i have a question. I sure it has been asked on here already but when reading i missed it or just didnt catch it. I am ordering some of the prodibio products. The same as iwan, but my tank is only a 120 and with rock weight removed and sand a sump my total water is about 130gallon. My question is, can you save the remaining ample of supplement in a sealed container until the next time you dose. Like the Bio Digest treats 260us gallons and and i am half that and it says do not overdose. Could i save the remaing amount in a airtight container and use it on next dose. The reef booster is the same thing.

Hi Rob here is a photo of the new T5 tube produced by Korallen Zucht: 5%red and the remainder 50/50 white blue. Best yet IMO.

Interesting to hear about the changes - any photos?

Cheers

You can save booster but not digest

If your n03 levels are 0, there will be no advatages to a dsb as a method of nutrient control. You may want one for other reasons.... but thats a separate topic:) Dive for cover.....

simon thanks for the pics. are all the bulbs the same spectrum? or are there multiple bulb types? got any pics of them fired up?
pics for me are not happening yet. I am waiting for the new nikon to be available and things aren't looking good enough to capture with a camera. I kept over dosing even at small dosages. but I would add a couple drops and wake up to dead coral then stop and they stop dieing and then start again and they die again. something in my tank does not like some part of the probiotic systems. it happened with zeo and polyplabs and prodibio. I was using tropic marin pro. my calcium was way through the roof so I have no clue if that could have anything to do with it or not. alk was around 3.2 and salinity around 1.025. nitrates and phosphates were undetectable. calcium well over 500. I stopped using tropic marin pro for now also. at least until things start growing well again. calcium just keeps building up with the reactor and not much using it.

From my understanding, the reason behind his recomendation of a sandbed was for a place for bacteria along with the LR. With out the sand the bacteria only has the LR. Is the LR alone enough to support this type of system?

Yes if your NO3 levels are 0. If there are readings after a few doses of digest/tpim then it is likely that there is not enough substrate for the denitrification to take place compared with the organic load of the reef.

I was BB for a while and went to a dsb for othere reasons - but when it was BB prodi worked fine, and my LR was considerably under the recomended quantity.

Hi Rob - I'l post some pics when I can get the card reader to work again. THey are the same spectrum. I also use a couple of AM OBA alongside these.

Your experience sounds disheartening, and puzzeling:confused: CA/Alh is high for these sorts of probiotic approaches maybe worth getting these in line before starting to dose again?

Cheers
