My itty bitty 1 gal pico

Hey guys

I am a long time lurker on this forum and spend most of my time on nano-reef.com under the name kmitch. You guys usually have too much water for me to deal with! (j/k)

Anyway, I have started a 1 gal pico reef which I have cutom painted with a white background and built an LED light box out of a Grey Goose Vodka box.

But I ran into a problem recently. I was going to use one of those mini pico filter things but when I put the light hood on there with the filter it sticks out too far. I can either drill the mini tank and build an acrylic fuge on the back, or invent "feet" for my light to raise it 1.5 inches. Wanted to know if anyone had feet ideas for my wood LED box.

Thanks guys.

Well thank you. I am part wondering if I cant use those coralife feet they sell for their fixtures and just screw them in there. I am really excited about my LEDs coming so I can wire them up. I have 40 high intensity LEDS for 1 gal of water.

You didn't show the back of the canopy. Could it be cut out to make room for the filter? I'm interested to see how the LED's work out for ya, make sure you keep posting pics! Oh, and if you're going to VT check out the New River Valley Reef Club.

I could cut the back out, but I would rather not. It would take away from the look of the whole thing and would end up blocking some of the light.

I will def. check out the club when I get back to the 'burg. Summer break right now.

Well I managed to find the coralife fixture legs they sell for their lamps and I screwed those and glued those onto the base of my fixture. It looks pretty good, and I didnt have to cut anything! Thanks for the ideas guys

Glad you got it working. You're the seceond person from V Tech i've seen here. My brother just graduated from there.
