My journey using Chloroquine Phosphate begins...

I'm a little skeptical about these amonia alert badges, i just got one the other day and it says i have 0.05 amonia alert. I then did a ammonia test with a Salifert kit and reading was zero and I did the test twice. All the fish in my QT tank are fine and have been in there for 1 week so far with no issues. Looks like my fish losses have stopped to 4 out of 16. I have literally torn my DT tank apart getting all these fish out and I am at my wits end trying to get the very last one...a coral beauty...i just cannot catch her...right now I wish she would commit suicide...bad of me to say but its been driving me up the wall. Most of my rock is out of the tank except for a few pieces which cannot come out. Not going to wait to catch this coral beauty..will be starting my CP treatment here in a day or so and will report progress.

We are living the same life right now, I have lost 8 fish now and I can't catch my melanarus wrasse and I too wish it would commit suicide or swim into my carpet anemone.

We sure are! I have 3 carpet anemones in the tank and that darn coral beauty wont even go near them! I caught my melanarus yesterday...he was the second to last one i couldnt get....for him what worked is i left my net in the tank and put a bunch of mysis shrimp in it...then a few minutes later i saw him swimming in the net eating them...i rushed and just scooped him up...i got lucky i guess

I have to get on a ladder to get in my tank and anytime I go to get on the ladder the fish hides in the rock... I have taken all my rock out twice now but the wrasse hides in the sand, I look and look for him in the sand without any luck twice now so I will try again in the next day or two. I have lost 7 angels now a tusk and a pyramid. Just found the regal about 10 mins ago dead so I'm feeling as though I should of just left everyone in the diseased DT... At least they were all living.

Have someone watch were he hides in the sand when he dives in and then scoop him up...i found him once that way and would have gotten him if i hadn't lifted the net up to quickly

For what it's worth, I've had great success catching fish with an AquaMedic fish trap. I would mount it high in the tank using powerhead magnets and keep it there for a few days (so the fish got used to its presence). I also would feed from inside the trap. Got to the point where they would gather inside the trap at feeding time, making capture a snap.

Right now, i have an inverted soda bottle in there and of course my cleaner shrimp is in there trapped. I do have the aquamedic trap but this fish never goes near it...i guess i need to starve it for several days and try it...

I also have good luck using fish traps, the aquamedic and a much larger one. I don't recall where I bought it. I fine the key is to put it in the tank and feed out of the trap for a few days the fish get comfortable with it in the tank. Sorry to hear both of you are having this problem, hope it turns around soon.

Fish are back to normal and eating like pigs again. I will have to give a fish trap a try. The wrasse doesn't eat anything but pods , flat worms and nori so I will give the nori a try

Day 7 and everything is doing great. Don't have much light on the tank so it's hard to see the fish well but they all look to be clear of apparent signs of ich. Is there anyway to easily test CP levels in a system? I would be curious to know if the one light in the room is effecting the med? The light is pointed away from the tank but it would be nice to know how much light is too much

Day 1 for me and all seem to be doing and eating well. I also have a melanarus wrasse so I'm keeping a close eye on him also. Hard to tell here as well without good light, i only open the room light a couple times a day when i feed.

I think I priced it one time just for the hell of it. The machine was >10k and I believe that might have been for a used one. :eek1:

Yeah, I will just stick with the calculation method coupled with a ATO. Just had to take my Great Dane to the vet today and had my vet write me another script for CP just so I have the "good stuff" without question. I was told they only come in 250mg tabs, is this correct? I swear when I had it before it wasn't 250mg tabs? Also I'm assuming that the tabs have a shelf life like the powder does? The script is for 50 tabs with a refill so I can treat 500g as it stands now at 40mg/gallon

Last time I got mine (many years ago) it came in powder form from the pharmacy. However, a friend of mine just bought some from a compounding pharmacy, and his came is 250mg tabs you can pull apart & open.

Thanks for the info, I guess I will see when I go drop this off at the pharmacy
