My journey using Chloroquine Phosphate begins...

For his dosing instructions just go to the eBay add I posted the link for then look at the description of it. It gives his recommended dosage. I think the sale is done now though. Hopefully he will renew the sale.

I looked at it. It is close to the one I was given from Fishman Chemicals which is where I bought my CP from. I do have to question the 80 mg per gallon. Is that for every day treatment or just a one-time dose and then 40 mg per gallon for subsequent doses. Actually the regimen I was given was 750 mg for 20 gallon QT every day for 10 days with 1 gallon changes in between dosing. I asked Bob Fenner at WWM about this dosing and he said it seems like a lot of CP. I did a first dose of 750 mg for the 20 gallon QT on Tuesday. I have not done any subsequent dosing because the fish seem to be acting rather listless and lethargic. Couple of the fish actually have not eaten a couple of days. Are your fish showing any signs of distress?

I haven't got mine yet. I would hope it comes next week or so. Keep us posted. Sure is alot of difference in the recommended dosage. For me I think I'm going to dose 12 grams in week one. Then after a week I'm going to dose another 12 grams, and depending on how fish are doing I may do another dose after another week then wait a week and add carbon and do a massive water change. Dosing 40mg/g everyday seems exesive to me especially when the minimum dosage I've read about is 40 mg/g once and that's it. I'm going to make my 180 gallon ready in case fish start doing badly then i will put them in there hypo salinity. I'm going to rid my tank of ich this time or I'm done!

I just spoke with Michael Fishman at Fish chemical and here is the regimen that he gave me for CP. 2 g of CP per hundred gallons of water so for my 20 gallon QT I would need a half a gram of CP. Treat every day for 10 days with the same dosage with 25% water changes in between. My problem right now is finding a scale that will measure .5 grams. I'm extremely concerned dosing this much however the clown fish is still scratching. Again I dosed 750 mg on Tuesday. I will keep you updated.

Will you have to redose for the 10 gallons you are changing out? Are you using Chloroquine Phosphate or Quinine? I started dosing CP last night but I'm worried about the fish. The Hawkfish and Royal Gramma are not eating. They all seem to be breathing hard. I put an aerator in the QT. But the Blenny and clownfish have stopped scratching. As far as the lighting I just have the overhead light on in the room.

Yes I am redosing any water I'm adding. And I am using CP purchased on Ebay. My fish are looking pretty good. This is day 3. I would like to see my Moorish Idol eating more, but they are picky fish and he's nice and fat so he may just need a little time to adjust. I am using a 6 or 9 watt cfl placed about 4 feet above the qt.

Have you tested your water for ammonia? This may be why your fish are stressed. Just a thought.

I have this scale and it works great.

I checked if this morning and it was zero. I went ahead and did a 50% water change tonight and put carbon in. The blenny was laying up on top of the powerhead breathing heavy and showing his stress colors. The Royal Gramma was also breathing hard. I'm not quite sure what's going on with the fish. None of them have spots. The only one that is scratching is the clown fish but that's only after I add new water. I'm going to try to get them in a better state maybe they could withstand the treatment in a day or two.

Day 3 all the fish seem to be responding well to treatment. Any algae in the tank is thinning out. Fish still showing spots. All are eating just as much as before if not more. Original plan was to feed every other day but I am now feeding daily. I will continue to update every other day

Day 6.. Still no spots no scratching. Too be honest my porcupine puffer has never looked better. Everyone is eating like a champ. If anything seems like they are a lot more aggressive towards food now which is a very good sign. So far no negatives, hair algae is thinner by the day any aptasia I had is non existent. Still too early to call it a success but so far I am quite happy.

Day 8...Don't know what to really say. No spots no scratching everyone's good.. I'm happy.. Algae is now eradicated. Has not harmed bio filter in anyway

Where did you get your CP and what dosage did you use? I treated 9 days ago and within 3 I had to do a water change cuz 2 of the fish were in bad shape and only 1 out of the 6 were eating. I did not redose. After a few days everyone was eating and breathing ok. But yesterday the Clownfish and Blenny were breathing hard again but no visible spots. Perhaps ich in their gills? Anyway Blenny died last night.

I got my cp from an exotic pet vet and I did the one and done dose as per the Instructions on the bottle. So I dosed 11 grams in my system. It's quite possible they had ich in their gills. Which dosage were you doing? The big attraction for me to this was the ability to use in the display tank as ive always found in the past moving the fish to a new tank/enviroment causes more stress. Ive lost more fish moving them to a qt than anything else. Just my 2 cents

I dosed 750mg for a 20 gal QT per Fishman Chemical where I got the CP. however, since I dosed and had that problem they told me to dose 500 mg. maybe that is what the problem was but I was told it is hard to overdose CP. I'm pretty sure it they do have ich in their gills. None of the fish have spots on their bodies. The Royal Gramma is breathing very hard and listing every once in a while. I'm not sure how much longer he's gonna live. Does anyone think a dip wit Methylene will help? I'd like to give this fish some relief but I just don't know what to do at this point. I put an air stone in the tank just to up the oxygen some. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

CP works great, currently QTing a Copperband that is eating plenty and hasn't showed ich since day 2 after dosing.

I will say, I've had 2 Royal Grammas die/get really sick due to CP and QS. I do not believe this fish should be treated with these medicines.

I have a tendancy to agree with you. The Royal Gramma died this morning. His eyes were cloudy, lots of mucus coming out of his gills and his tail fin was frayed a little. Now I'm wondering if this was Velvet or Brook which according to Mr. Fishman at Fishman Chemical CP will not help. Originally was told it was ich because the Royal Gramma had spots back in December. He along with the 2 clowns and the Blenny were also scratching. I dosed with CP and spots gone. But the fish did not handle it well. Did a water change and four days later they were breathing hard again. I still have to figure out what is wrong with the Clowns.

I use crypto pro by national fish pharm... It's quinine sulfate I believe. I dose everyday and do a 25% water change everyday. This is supposed to be done for 7-10 days
