My Latest Pics

Fantastic shot! Definitely worthy of a wall hang. Love the CBB and this is a terrific shot.

Do you do any sharpening in post or use an unsharp mask?

Absolutely, spectacular photography... love the rich, close-up look, and for all the world it looks like you are in a professional studio. Nicely done!

Excellent, as always.

Thanks zibba.

Thank you. :)

Very sharp!

Awesome!!!

Thank you both.

Wow Aaron! Just WOW! I particularly like the copperband photo. Love the bokeh'd reef. Really makes the fish pop!

Thanks dude, it's quite an oldish photo. Wicked fish and still one of my favourites... Had to go as it developed a taste for Acans lol.

Man these shots are fantastic! I think I am going to try this "flash" photography. How far on average are you away from your tank when taking your shots? Also what type of bracket is that holding your flash or is it two different parts?

Thanks

So much detail!!! Man, the pictures are awe inspiring. I like the 'evil' look of the barnacle blennies. Out of curiosity, room lighting? and also, is your glass starfire?
Beautiful pictures man!
Keep it up and keep'em coming.

Simply beautiful pictures...keep the pictures coming.

Cheers, I've got a few new ones I'll post up in a bit.

Generally I'm pretty close, depends on what I'm shooting. Corals I push the lens up agains the glass and fish I'm a foot or two back from the glass to get them in the frame.

Thanks

Thanks. The room lighting is off, here in the UK the glass is called optiwhite but the results are the same through normal float glass if you get the technique right.

I've had a few issues with the tank over the last few months, however things have picked up and colours are coming back on the SPS. I'm no longer embarrassed by it lol. It's still pretty young, cycled at the start of May. It's far from perfect but I feel I'm heading in the right direction.

The only fish that hasn't looked better using flash is the Royal Gramma, it really does enhance them.

Here's a crappy iphone pic how I use mine.

Thanks for the notes on your shooting conditions. The picture you had of your flash above how many parts is that or it some special clamp/bracket to hold your flash. I looked around at a few places but did not see a clamp like this. Can you let me know what brand or what it is called?

Sorry man, I missed answering this, just looked back as I remembered it being asked. Apologies. It's basically a clamp with a ball head that has a screw thread. I got it off eBay UK. I'll see if it's on the US and PM a link to you if I can find it.
