My Latest Pics

This is one of my new favorite threads! I just picked up a Sigma 70mm Macro. I need to look into getting a flash as well then! So let me get this straight... room lights off + Flash mounted from above + Macro lens + digital touch up work = your awesome photos?

Thanks Franky, very kind mate. I've seen some excellent shots in your thread so don't be too critical about your images. I regularly look in to see your new ones.

Thanks for the tips via PM i tried it and gotta say it helped, still not as razor sharp as yours but i think it has to do with my glass quality not being as good as yours and my shaky hands LOL!!! Check out my thread for my new images using your techniques

I wouldn't worry too much about the room lighting, I leave mine on. Otherwise that's pretty much it. :)

Hi Aaron!

Superb photos!!!

Is it possible for you to tell us more about your photos?
(speed/aperture/iso/flash/etc)

Hi Frontosa.

This really does vary from image to image. If I am relying on the aquarium lighting the only thing that doesn't change is the ISO. I Leave it set to 2000 as this is the point where the noise is minimal and takes minimal work to reduce it.

Using the flash gives you more flexibility with aperture and shutter, it also enables you to keep the ISO pretty low. All images are shot in RAW as well.

If you want to view the exif for a specific image, go to the image on Flickr and click the 3 dots bottom right and it should give you the option to view it.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much!

It helps a lot!

Do u use auto focus or manually focus when shooting fish. I find that when I auto focus the meter light scares the crap out of them and when I manually focus I'm constantly playing with the focus ring since the fish is very actively moving around. Most of my shots of fish are shear luck then they are any pre planned method of attack lol if that makes any sense

I use AF, I've turned off the focus light on my camera. It's been off for as far as I can remember. Think it must be for the reason you mentioned.

That tank is just so freaking gorgeous! Amazing how the closer you get, the scarrier things look. You could probably sell that sun coral macro to Stephen King ;)

Thanks again for another stunning photo lineup!
