The OG mad scientist
Like many of us , I wondered about this new technology and the aplications to our reefs, specifically as it relates to a SPS dominated reef tank.
I would like to share my experiences with this "not so new" technology and its future.
Like many of us the forums are leaps and bounds from the usual 6-pack and lets talk about reefs afternoon. One of the initial writeup was IMO one of the best that prompted me to give this a try, here's that particular article for those interested.

A little bit of background-- I've been keeping saltwater tanks and reefs since UG filters started yes its been a while, and no other technology besides skimming and reactors has caught my eye more than the LEDS, mainly becasue of the pros in terms of electricity and the endless controllable features that this units provide.
In my case I decided to use the Aquaillumination modules and so far I'm extrememly impressed with thier performance and reliability, as well as the power concumption.
I will post some pics from its inception and like many of us, many ups and downs but finally after many mini crashes and so forth its beginning to take shape.
The LED modules have been running consitently for 4-5 months now and the adjustments as of today have been minimal thus results are starting to show.

Initial transfer of corals from previous tank and light.

Oct 2009
Tank was then lit by 3x400 watts radiums on lumenbright pendants
While this has always been my favorite configuration, the heat and power consumtion was way to much and decided then that something needed to be done.

7-24-2010 the decision was made and here we are.
