My LTA

Hi All,

I was wondering what could be wrong with my LTA. I bought him about 2 months ago and he was bleached and so far has gone from a white color to a nice dark tan color with my clownfish hosting. He has moved all over the tank but currently is in the back corner sort of floating in the current. His base is not buried in the sand or stuck to anything (free floating) but he opens fully during the day and the clown and crab anemone host him without a problem. I am wondering if this is normal or should he be burrowing into the sand or stuck to the rock work? He sort of floats up and down with the movement of the current while being completely open and happy (or apparently happy).

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Zimmy

he should be buried through the sand

has the tank been setup a while? do you have a lot of flow in the tank? i find that mine hated flow and moved to a spot in the back of the tank where theres little to no flow.

The tank has been up for about 3 years now and where he is the flow is fairly low. I can see him now and his foot is just dangling laying on top of the sand. I thought he would move himself but he is just chilling here. The sand is about 2" deep. He is eating (when the clownfish brings him food) and his color is great (really dark tan). I am wondering if I should try and move him to another location or just let him do his thing. He is at the bottom of 18" deep tank under 150 14k MH (in the back behind some rocks).

It took my LTA about 3 weeks to bury his foot, but he didn't stay there long. It took about 3 months to find a permanent spot in the tank.
