"My Modest 200 Gallon System Build"

The Tank finally hit the top of the stand :lolspin: Its tall, lol....Im 6'5" and the top of the canopy towers over me 10"..lol. Next I have to finish up the inside of the stand with the killz and start positioning the sump and then do a vinegar bath to clear off the coraline in the tank. Anyone know how much vinegar I should use in the 160 gallon display? lmk thanks for looking.

You sir have some serious woodworking skills. Looks really good! How muck space between the top of the canopy and your ceiling? I would say time for

That is a really good wood work... i agree with everyone here it looks like its a furniture grade:) I cant believe its not Birch or Oak
Thats so much for the compliments, my wife likes it to...yea I didnt want to fork out alot of extra dough on the wood so I didnt buy the oak or birch, I just decided Id work the heck out of prepping the pine, and it turned out ok...lol

Thanks

Don't be so modist
Lol, I'll try not to be...thanks :bum:

Then I will be purchasing 60 gallons of vinergar $110 bucks worth...arghhhh  unless someone else knows of a better chemical to use to clean coraline stains off of the tank.... I wish I knew a place that sold vinegar in bulk so I could save some money. Anyhow on a side note; my pm bullet 3 skimmer setup will be here today. Cant wait for all my equipment to come in and fill the sump area.. pic's below...thanks for looking...but no thanks for not participating and posting...lmao :D

Where are the stains exactly? If is just on a pane of glass then lay the tank down and soak the individual pane instead of buying so much vinegar. You can also soak a rag in it and let that sit in the areas. I used muriatic acid on mine and took care of everything. Just make sure you do that outdoors. I fumigated myself right out of my garage!!!

not sure if you know, but those little notches on the tops of your overflows (left and right side of each overflow) are for your return lines :D Amazing woodwork. Have you tried a razor blade? if not acid baths also work. You can get a good sized bucket of acid from Homedepot for like $20. I think you would only need 2 buckets.

Yes i know those slots are for the returns, didnt like all the plumbing i would have to do to get the returns like I wanted. Ill just put mesh over those slots. I went went vinegar for the cleaning process not sure what acid would do to my silicone seams but thanks for the suggestion.

Well I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving...I enjoyed the in-laws that came down to my house. :) . Anywho..I made a little progress on the tank. I dumped in 6 gallons of vinegar to start the cleaning process and its doing good 3 days running now. I will add more if needed. I also installed my PM Bullet 3 which is pulling crap out already...lol.. good deal. After running the tank and fixing the little irriatating drips leaks I didnt like all the splashing noise coming out of the drains soooo. I added 4 mufflers to the system that worked wonders I reccommend everyone do this if you sump is in your house. lol  oH, I also ran down to regal plastics and picked up some 1/4" scrap from the heap and cut some bubble traP baffles and a filter sock rack to be installed tonight in my sump. Pict's below. thanks for looking and posting as usual

Coraline says bye bye...lol ... 6 gallons of vinegar did a good job in 3 days... drained the tank and sumps lastnight in about 2 hrs worth of work and its dry. ill work on the sump bubble trap tonight.

I was always told not to use foam under a tank that has the trim on bottom. It puts unwanted stress on the center of tank. It is good for a flat bottom tank. Just don't want to see all that hard work break..
