My Nanostream 6025 Review and Pics

joeychitwood, no only the little blades were floating around in the ball with all the other junk. The metal shaft/spindle was still attached to the propeller magnet. I just slipped the little blades back on and snapped them into place when I had them in the right position.

Speaking of magnets, my magnets repel each other for the most part. Its very strange. I have tried to line them up to come together on either side of the glass, there must be just the right alignment becasue they repel each other. It seems I might have found the right alignment on one of them but have not been able to get it right on the rattler nano. This one sems to have all the trouble. It is holding, but not correctly. The tank is still dark so I have not checked the status of the rattler nano yet.

The spindle must be permanently imbedded into the body of the pump, so that it remains in the pump when you pull the magnet and propeller off. If the spindle can be pulled out of its mounting hole, it is broken, and it needs to be epoxied into place permanently.
 
It should be stuck in the hole in the bottom of the pump. You can try the epoxy, it will not void your warranty, I can also exchange the pump for you.
 
Hmmm, Maybe I don't get what you are saying, When I pulled the spindle ,blades, and magnet out to see abou the rattle the whole of everything came out and left an empty hole where the magnet and all was sitting. Nothing was left. I thought that was how most were built. My maxis are the same you pull everything out and you have a hole in there where the magnet sets itself. I need to take some shots of the parts and show you what I am talking about. Will do that later I have to run out for a few housrs. BTW, It seems to be working just fine and no rattle.
 
The spindle must be glued in place in the hole inside the magnet chamber. If not, it will start rattling again shortly after cleaning. It's an easy solution.
 
Oaky, total rattle central when I came home. I see what you mean by the spindle/metal thingy. It is not glued in and comes out with the magnet. Does Super glue gel work to fix it or does it have to be epoxy of some sort? and if epoxy, what kind of epoxy?

BTW, I figured out the magnet situation...sometimes I feel like a complete loser ;).
 
You are welcome to try the epoxy, actually the glue Joey linked to is a methylacrylate, it is more closely related to super glue, it is a two part glue and it is what they put the rear view mirror on with in most cars. If it comes undone I will still honor your warranty and replace it. This repair seems to work though from my tests, just be sure everything is dry.
 
Now I'm confused. The two-part plastic epoxy I linked to is the stuff that you recommended for the repair. Is it the wrong adhesive?
 
I hate to say it but, mine is also now noisy. I'm not sure if I just didn't notice it before or what. I turned my skimmer off, which I thought was making most of the noise, but it was one of the ph's. I am going to check it tonight when I get home. Its nothing crazy but it is buzzing. Do they go through stages of break-in?
 
Joey, Thanks for the link. I'll try it. Can you get it at Home Depot?? Is there any product at Home Depot that will work? I have to go by there after work today so it would be nice to get it there.
 
Hmm, I guess my reply didn't go through. Joey, the link you posted is correct, but it isn't epoxy. That glue is methylacrylate. If you noticed the fumes were pretty strong and at least for me they make my eyes water pretty bad.

Most of the first ones were fine and if anyone has any trouble we will replace the pump if the shaft comes out, even if you try to glue it, with a new one. I only suggested the glue as a DIY for people who didn't want any down time.
 
not sure how well this would do, but this gel is fantastic. its thick and dries quickly and solidly, and its super inexpensive since its not marketed as "frag glue"

maxi-cure, is a very thick gel, and ic-gel is super thick like tooth paste.

Wow, all this talk about the Nanostream makes me want to swap out my Seio for these :) Question: I have a 50 gallon tank (36x18x18). Should I go with two 6025 or two 6045? Will two 6045 be too strong for the softies in the tank?
 
Rippin. It probably depends on how your tank is set up. I have one 6025 in my 40g and it is plenty of flow, but the tank is fairly open (not much live rock or coral).

My tank is fairly open as well, even though I have about 50 lbs of live rock. I may add a few more pieces of LR in the future. I'll post a picture when the aquarium lights go on so that you can see the setup.
 
As promised here is a picture of the aquarium. I will most probably be adding a little more live rock and definitely some more corals. So, do you think two 6025s (one at each end) would be enough flow?

BTW I currently run a Seio 1500. Plenty of flow, actually too much. This is why I'm considering the Nanostreams.
I also have the Deltec MCE600 skimmer running and a Fluval 300 canister for carbon.
