Hey t5Nitro, hionestly in the years I have worked with all fish not even just saltwater, it is a luck of the draw on what fish get along. Yellow tangs are notorious for being brusiers, have you treid adding more rock work to allow for easy quick access, sometimes the sparceness of a tank can stress them, as it ingauges the fight or flight response. Also, temp can effect atitude, suprise as that sounds, higher temp higher metabolic rate. Another possibilty is enough greens to chew on, not to say they are starved or anything-but I have seen them get very anowed (spelling), if not enough greens are there. This may be more info then you wanted...sorry got typing LOL.
I would have to agree with the above. Between all of my tanks, I have a variety of tangs in each tank. They'll chase each other around at times, but most generally they all get along. I've not found one to be more aggressive than another.

I was amazed at how much easier it was to mount the frags this time around. I used Glue Accelerator this time and it made mounting so much easier and quicker. Surprisingly, I didn't end up with any fingers glued together either...After mounting, I placed the frags in the coral tank for the night. Tomorrow will place the corals in the big tank and this time I will use epoxy to keep the frags in place. I'm not sure if it is the current in the tank, the fish, or snails, that have been knocking over the frags I put in last week, but I will fix it tomorrow and hopefully eliminate the problem.

looks great I know it is not polite but what are the coral frags going for now, or where do you recomend getting them from?

Also what are those little coin like peices you glued the frags to, and where do you get them do they come with the frags?

Thanks so much

Roger

Ya, I'd also like to know where to get frags like that.
Also, my skimmer went nuts after using almost a tube of epoxy for glueing rocks together, I didn't know what was wrong with the skimmer, I just had to run it a while and get the cloudy clear water out (epoxy), incase that happens to yours. Took mine about 2.5 cups of emptying.

Your tank is nice!

The glue, glue accelerator, and mounts are all products from bostonaquafarms.com. As far as the frags, I've found them from $10. & up from there.

Most likely the skimmer overloaded due to the oxidation reaction of the epoxy released under water. Much like what happens when you add slime coat products. No worries, it would most likely make heat-exothermic and then also have a reduction reaction and shrink slightly-to increase the bond of the epoxy. Just for good measure check your pH and other levels if anyone seems to be breathing hard ect. Just some info, hope that helped.

Hey Goodwin, how many tangs do you think could go in a 125 6' long with 2 clowns and 2 bartletts anthias?

I have a magnificent foxface that is about 6" that I think needs a new home, he looks too small in there and paces the tank. I have 2 tangs now, a powder brown tang and a yellow tang. The yellow tang is just too aggresive and I think he needs a new home too, hopefully find a big home for him :D

Sounds like your powder brown is all...if you look at all the reference material they really need more space then we ever could give them, but one especially if it is a sub adult or older juvenial. You may be stuck for now. Unless you move to a much bigger tank. You may want to look into an Orange shoulder yellow tangs.

The powder brown isn't the problem. The yellow tang is aggresive and the foxface seems too big for a 6' long tank.

Not my thread :D Back to Goodwin's tank  Post some pics of the frags in the tank when you move them over if you can :D

New tang for the tank. Got it at LFS store but they couldn't tell me for sure what type it was. Can anyone help out with the identification? I see where I should have cleaned the tank before shooting these pictures....

My guess would be an Acanthurus nigroris (Grey-head Surgeonfish)
He's right, Acanthurus nigroris is identified by the black spots at the base of the dorsal and anal fins.
