Mine do the same too. They also seem to be able to regognize the feed containers and feeding stick. They also know what the net is and they exhibit the exact opposite reaction. LOL

So what is way to much money in the US for a black tang? I have heard as much as $800 for the small ones. Larger ones being less of course because the are easier to find, and average folk can not properly accomodate a big one.

Thing are generally cheaper in Canada than in the US (except Canadian beer for some reason....)
I've seen, when available, Black Tangs going between $400 - $600 for a 3 1/2 - 4 1/2" size.

I don't know about the net so much, but a few of mine really find the Kent scraper interesting when I clean the inside of the tank. I think that it is a red blade they are attracted to. One of the tangs ignores the scraper and just sneaks up and gives me a little nip on my arm. Just enough to make me jump and hit my arm on the lights.....

My Porcupine puffer takes a bite of my fingers from time to time. She's made me bleed before. All the fish love the feeding stick I use to feed my moray eel and convict blenny. Sometimes its hard to get the food to the eel without one of the tangs snatching it from the stick. I know they recognize the stick, because if I put it in without any food, they still go after it. If I put in my pincers that I use to move rocks etc, they ignore it.

The fish think it is feeding time...all of the time. I was standing on the steps heading into the basement to take the picture and they all spotted me. A person would think that I under feed them.....right Marc

If I go to the far end of the tank from inside the fishroom, all of my fish swim to that end expectantly. They are convinced that I must be bringing food if I'm looking from that end. And they are right about 87.9% of the time. ;)

I am really interested to know your method for counting the fish! :D
I'm going to use the "grid method".

HERE is a partial list;

23 Tangs

2 Rabbit Fish

12 Anthias

3 Clowns

3 Blennies

1 Angel

These were the easy ones to count.......

That should work if you can get the fish to hold still...
The wrasses are posing the biggest problem it seems right now.....

TWENTY THREE TANGS?!?!?!?!

WHOA!!!!

Some of them are the BIG variety too. And this is just what you have in your 600?

And I thought I was bad with a Hippo, Purple, Yellow, Powder Brown, and a Powder Blue in my 450g.

Nice. I have about 15 tangs in my tank.
I'm listening for sirens and looking red flashing lights.......

hey, mine all get along very nicely. I feed good food, keep the water clean, and they have pals to play with.

I agree that it's not a problem. Although my powder brown has been getting knicked up and I believe it's the powder blue doing it. Most of the time it looks like they're playing though. Powder brown even swims back to the powder blue when the blue stops chasing him.

15 Tangs! 23 Tangs! I SOOOO wish I could do that!

I have one tang, a yellow, and it spends its day eating, pooping and chasing its reflection :)
