Holy Moly..I looked at the tank and there was no missing which fish you were talking about. You might need to drain some water to get that guy. Now i am second thinking about the 1 I have. I knew they got big but didn't know it was that fast.

Yea they do grow very fast. I think the choices that you made where fine except for the damsels and vlamingi Tang. I just think they get to big. The damsels are just really mean fish.

I was talking about Green Chromis when I said damsels, every online store I go to has them listed as damsels. I also had some of the blue ones with the yellow tails and they werent that much trouble in my last tank. My total system volume will be around 1500,( 1000 gallon display), so I think a couple of Vlamingis should be ok............ As soon as I close on my new house I will start posting pics of the proposed fish room, for suggestions.

Do you have any trouble with the tangs fighting? I want several different tangs, but every article i see on line says you shouldnt put similar fish in the same tank.
IMO tank size is another key aspect of fish compatibility. You are going to have more success with incompatible fish if they have plenty of room. 100 gallon tank vs a 600 gallon tank is a big difference.

True very true.
Every behaviour has an insinctive root, so some fish are going to be naturally more aggressive than others. It's the environment that determines to what degree that particular behaviour is expressed. Providing enough food and maximizng space, will minimize the degree to which the aggressiveness is displayed.

The local stores don't tell you things like that here. They sell you what ever you ask them to bag for you..........

Ouch.....

I would only do the chromis. I have a blue damsel that I have had for about 5 years and he picks on new fish in my tank and gets everyone all going. They say the get more agressive with age. If I had a trap I would take mine out but he has been with me for a long time. I don't think I could just give hi to the LFS.. Why take the chance on a damsel. I acn understand if you want to take a chance on a different fish. But hey if that is what you like then give it a shoot. to each there own. good luck on your new house..

yeah I want to get a crew myself because soon i will have my other 2 mh's up. .. i have some good links on my laptop..I will send them to you tomorrow.

We have two of the yellow tail damsels. When I first got fish from my 120g, the yellow tail was not much smaller then the rest of the fish. He would pick on everyone. As time passed, all the fish grew except for yellow tail. He is the smallest in the tank now and it doesn't wander far from his cave. I see others chasing the poor guy every now and then.

I just added a new one to the 450. Test subject. Water parameters are great BUT I just wanted to make sure. He came out and ate tonight so things are looking good.

Personally, I like damsels. But they limit what else you can put in your tank. The really docile fish shouldn't be housed with them. Of course, with a 1000g display, the docile fish and the damsels may never see each other.

I have a couple in a QT from a rescue and if no one adopts them, I might just toss them in my display. They'll either learn to survive, or make a nice meal.

My most dominant Green chromis is actually quite tough. He battles it out with my Tomato clown thats easily 3 times his size.

Ouch.....
There used to be a good one in town that gave you straight answers.......

FINALLY! After thirteen days sitting in RO water, the Mangroves are finally starting to show signs of the beginning of roots. I have been adding 1/2 cup of tank water to the tub each day. These haven't been kept under any lights other than the light in the room.
