My new 600 gallon reef

I haven't seen my rabbit eat any zoos. I think the moorish idol beats him to it. I just place my zoos around the tomato clownfish and it's anenome. The tomato clown chases the moorish idol away from the zoos in the area. I have to make a note to do that with my new tank.

That's a good idea!!! My orange rabbitfish picked on the previous owners Acan's but hasn't touched a thing in my tanks so far. They get big fast!

Here is a pic of my orange spotted rabbitfish, it is definately different looking then yours Chuck. Your seems to be white with dark spots which is kind of odd? I have never seen one with that color pattern. Was it stressed a bit in the pic, or is that its normal look?

You've got what I would call an orange spotted rabbit fish. Mine DOES NOT have those orange spots and didn't even when it was smaller. Just happens I kept the invoice from the shipment this fish came in on and it did call it an orange spotted.

I've never done any checking to see if there is a variety called spotted rabbit fish.

WOW! I just looked at your web cam....very impressive looking tank. If you don't have a thread with pictures, you sure are welcome to post pictures of your tank on my thread. I noticed the Look Down, how has it done in your tank?

Thanks, I'm glad the cam worked for you. I have a build thread on another website, and there is a thread here with some tank pictures, so I won't hijack your thread with photos. I think I'll put a build thread on RC this spring as an 2 yr anniversary of the tank.

Here's a thread of some pics

The Lookdown is a showstopper fish. Not interested in coral or inverts. I know that he will eat any smaller fish, but most of my other fish are too large for him. I'm concerned about my clownfish in the longer run. One theory is that if the lookdown grew up with those fish, he won't associate them as food. I suppose we'll see about that.

The most fun I had with him was when I added 6 coral gobies. I figured they would hide among the branches of the coral, but they were tank raised and lacked survival skills. The lookdown picked them off over about 1 week. I'm thinking of adding a school of chromis. I bet they school!!!

This is the fish we are discussing, for other's benefit:

Finally, I was speaking with a buddy about his orange spotted rabbitfish. He tells me that this is another fast growing, large fish. He feels it is outgrowing his 300 gallon tank.

Awesome fish. I skimmed through your build thread on the other canadian site a few days ago. I like all the gorgonians. Great job.

Great video Chuck. That is weird with the foxface though. I have never seen your type before but he/she is sure beautiful.

Those 2 rabbits don't look the same at all. It will be interesting to see what Chucks looks like in 6 months
It will probably be a foot long and still have brown spots

New..very colorful addition to the tank today. Good thing that I took a picture while it was still in the bag, cause I can't find the fish in the tank now.......................:mad2:

I have a Mccullochi Pseudochromis in my 60 gal. It is the most colorful fish I have or have seen in person, however I only get a glimps or two of it every day. :( I'm tempted to put is a wrasse just so he will be out harrassing it and I can see him more. I know, that's just wrong! Good luck with your new guy.

I was able to find where it went, back of the tank under a rock.....
Not the best pictures, but at least I found it........

Thank you! I've got 10 or so wrasses in the tank so I'm not sure your idea works. How come all of the good looking fish hide? I should have known better...I have purple Pseudochromis in other tanks and I don't see them very often either. By the way, I looked up a picture of your Mccullochi Pseudochromis...very nice looking!

Pseudos are very shy. My fridmanis are shy even when well established, after a year or so of tank stability they start to cruise the whole tank, but it can take that long for them to feel like they know thier neighbors well enough to mingle.

Beautiful fish!

Thanks for the info Bax, it's nice to know there is some hope of seeing it more. But I do think I am almost at the year mark with mine. He does swim out in the open more when the lights are off in the morning.

very nice.
Thanks Jonathan, hopefully it will come out from under the rocks one day and I will be able to get some better pictures.

Give him time Chuck, these are gutsy little fish.

They spend much of their time hunting in the cracks and crevasses of the rock work taking on small shrimp and bristle worms so, what's so scary about a tang or two?! :)
