I was lucky enough to see ALL Chuck's tanks in person!!! :eek1:

All I can say is WOW!!

It was amazing how well taken care of the tanks were. I only have three tanks and can hardly manage to keep them up.

The fish were way too cool, all so nice and big. It is really neat when you can see how the fish interact with each other in such large tanks.

All I wish is that I had more time to spend at his house looking at all the equipment and tanks.

Great job Chuck!!!!

Dustin

Thanks Dustin! Your welcome to stop by any time you are in town, just send me a note.

Just got back from Sioux Falls, SD and had the pleasure of seeing Chuck's house and several tanks.

I can elaberate on Dustin's "Wow" from above. This is a house that is dedicated to the passion of fish keeping. Chuck truely has a passion and you can tell it on his face the moment you walk through his doors. It took us a good 45 minutes to make it to the basement because he has 6-7 very interesting tanks on the first three levels of the house.

If you ever have the time it would be well spent looking at this "aquarium heaven". Pretty much everywhere I looked i could see some kind of aquarium in sight...Now some of you might be thinking "but are they all nice?"...That is an easy answer. YES!! I could have spend 5-6 hours at his house and never even get to the basement.

But the basement is information overload. He had a "water-station" that is proabably better than all of the LFS's i have ever seen. He definantely has much more salt than a semi could hold!! The 600 is absolutely stunning with all the different tangs...The 470 might even be a better tank if that is possible. No, he doesn't have like 100 "super colored" corals, but he honostly has a more realistic reef than what i have at my house.

You will never truely understand what kind of person it takes to care for these types and numbers of tanks until you meet Chuck. I would guess its a full-time job!! :) It was truely a pleasure to see your stuff and I hope to see it again!! I do regret forgetting my camera, but if you ask nicely I am sure he would snap you photos of anything you wanted!
It was great meeting you in person yesterday David. Thank you for the kind words. Your welcome to stop by any time you are in town. (Next time, I won't try and clean the lights while you are here....) I'm glad that Phil (Dakotareef) was able to stop by and give you some of his advice on the corals...not my strong point. I'm going to have to plan a trip up north to check out your systems, I'll bet it's sweet.

What a great post. I completely agree - Chuck is a very involved aquarist that wants all of his livestock to be happy. I had a great time visiting his home 1.5 years ago, and hope to get out that way again some day.
How deep does the snow have to be before you want to come back :D

That picture was from Cougarman's tank. I had tried them a couple of years ago in my shark & ray tank, but they didn't survive. I enjoyed them the short time that I had them, but not sure if I would ever try them again.

Does not seem that long ago......TIME FLIES

Chuck - all of your tanks are great. The 210 gal. looks like it a got a cleaning recently -- looking good.

On your 600 gal. tank, I noticed that most of your fish consistently congregate on the right side of the tank. I find that odd. There's a lot of real estate on the other side, too. Keep the updates coming... great thread.

Great looking tanks indeed.

The fish congregate on the right side of my tank as well, I think its flow based in mine. I wonder what Chris' opinion is in his setup.

Thank you! I sure wish the acrylic tanks were as easy to clean as the 210 (glass), would make my life a lot easier.

I guess I have never noticed the fish in the 600 hanging out on the right side. The cave is on that side. The fish are right in front of me when I am at the tank.

I've never stopped to think about it, but there may be a little less flow on the right side of the tank due to the positioning on the returns and the direction they are pointing.

My fish congregate on which ever side I happen to be standing!
I agree, the onlly fish in my tank that stay put are the cardinals. It like they are frozen in time.....

I just finally read the entire thread, all splits of it.

Amazing tank, really inspiring. I'd love to have a tank with half the cool tangs you do someday :)

Great job man and it looks like you've had some difficulties in both your body and the tank along the way, congratulations to you for weathering it all and keepin' on trucking, you're a true fishie hero :)

Chuck, i have been following your thread. I love your fish collection...
WOW..I got unsubscribed from my own thread..

If I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't add the cardinals again. They aren't very active and stay in one corner of the tank. They don't add much color either....

Well thank you for taking the time to read the thread. The tank has been a journey filled with ups and downs, but I guess that life is that way too. If I could only have one species of fish, they would have to be tangs, probably the fish I enjoy watching the most in the tanks.

I'll keep on trucking, but I don't know about the fishie hero thing......

Sad day...found these in the tank this afternoon. Not sure what happened but the cleanup crew did a number on the fish.
