My new Anename

Here's a pic of my first anename. I've always been scared to get one of these because I have heard stories of them stinging other corals in the tank, but when I saw this one I just had to have it. If you have any "do's" or "don'ts" on these guy, please feel free to let me know. I'm open to suggestions.
Thanks.

Any suggestions to help it take a foothold? I turned down my powerhead but I'm still afraid it might get sucked into it because its still bouncing around the tank.

I had one LTA...it footed through the sandbed to the tank bottom. It only lived for a few months. It was our first 'nem, probably a bit early for us. I don't believe our tanks params. were stable enough at the time. Good luck with it! You may find some decent info over in the Anemone and Clown forum.

I think that multiple species are sold as LTAs, but FWIW the one I have has had its foot in a rock crevice for about three years and hasn't moved. Mine is brown, not electric blue. I gently plopped mine into the pocket of a piece of live rock and he obliged me in attaching right where I placed him. Good luck.

your anemone is Macrodactyla doreensis. There's a very informative anemone FAQ at the top of the Clownfish/Anemone Forum on RC.

The bubble coral shaded under the ledge can still be saved but it will definitely need more light.

Plerogyra and anemones should be kept far apart.

Thanks Gary. Its funny you mention the bubble coral. I just moved him under the shade because I thought he was getting too much light.... The Anenome has move away from it now, so no worries about that. Do you think I should move the bubble back into the light? I know they dont like to be bothered much....

Good news! Anenome took a foothold at some point yesterday. I feed it some cyclops-ez and blood worms which it ate up quick. Seems to me this is a good sign.
