My new magnifica.

Can someone help me identify the actual name of this species? Or is there only one species of mag? It hasn't opened up completely yet but is pushin 10" already.

that picture is the seller pic. got it from a fellow reefer in new albany ohio.
he just called it a mag didn't know if there were different species that required different care? was trying to better know what i was taking care of! it has attached its foot and is inflated and looks moderately happy just acclimated it today, its starting to open more the mouth is fully closed and its pushing 10" and not fully open yet seller claimed 12" plus. neither of my clowns have yet to touch it but my clark is a bit of a nem whore and I'm sure if won't take long.

water volume: 220 gallons
age: just shy of a year
temp: 75-77 degrees
nitrate: under 5ppm
nitrite: 0ppm
flow: 2 mp40's synced on wave mode and running night time mode.(no foam covers)

- i have never measured phosphate but would like to. is there test kits readily available or is a hanna checker a better option?
- no idea what sg is?

oher inhabitants include:
-2 moorish idols

-yellow tang
-copperbanded butterfly
-bird wrasse (male)
-5 green chromis
-clarkii clown
-cinnamon clown
- pink spot goby

feeding schedule:
(i feed 2-3x daily in small amounts) not all are daily just an overview of what i feed as a whole. frozen varies usually 2 - 3 x a week. all others are daily.
-nori seaweed
-frozen brine/mysis/mussel
-nls 1mm
-garlic enriched formula 1 flakes

lights are still t5(12 36" 39 watt)

would like to know a good feeding regiment for the mag I've read good and bad things about silversides and to wait a while to feed it and not while its new to the tank and stressed as that can do more harm than good. any input anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. thanks.

Just keep an eye out for the late-afternoon/evening deflate-inflate 'death' cycle!

I have had mine now just over one year.Like ca1ore stated just watch out for any deflate/inflate cycle.

Okay I wouldn't say it deflates fully as of now but some of the tentacles do I just figured it was because it was still getting acclimated only been a few days and it's walkin around getting situated. Should I be concerned about what I'm seeing now?

Magnifica should not deflated. They should not deflated at all after the first day or so. The earlier the treatment, the better the outcome. I would take him out and treat him.
